Has anyone Increased the Current on a Utorch UT01?

I found a resistor on the driver marked .050 so I piggy backed a .100 and didn’t see much improvement.
Just wondering if someone had already done this before.

Anyone?

You’re like an evil genius …

Never could see much of a reason to mod that UT01 since it’s pretty nice as is, but the UT02 a lot of people have modded it using same mods as the Manker U21 since they’re the same light basically.
Do you know that the UT01 has a hidden mechanics mode where you can adjust each light level by three individual levels, adjusting the last level as high as it will go will give you about 800 lm’s I think, that’s pretty good for a small light like that, I really do love that light, I think I have maybe 4-5 of them and about 6 or so of the 02’s.

@Boaz, I can’t leave stuff as is, I always gotta try to make it better or make it in to a pile of crap. Its been that way since I was a very young. I was always more interested in taking my remote controlled car apart to see how it worked than I was steering it around the house. :person_facepalming:

@T18, I have 2 of the ut01’s, one I will mod and one that will stay factory or end up as parts for the mod.
I have a Klarus Mi7 ti I modded to 3.7 amps measured at the tail using a modded BLF X6 board running NarsilM with a attiny85 transplant.
It really does make the light super nice to me, especially the UI. The ut01 has a slightly different e-switch board layout inside than the Mi7.
It might be a little more difficult to mod with the BLF X6 board, but probably doable. The UI on the ut01 is not bad at all, so I thought I might just increase the current a little and leave the driver intact. I found the programmable modes while searching for a current mod.
.
I searched google to see if I could find a ut01 that had been current modded but never found a single hit. This light has been around awhile so I was hoping someone had modded the light and just hadn’t posted a write up.

Do you think the new ones have the bugs out of them yet?

My two seem to work great, no problems.

Did they increase the length to accept longer cells?

I bought 5 to leave in my family’s cars in the last 2 months. 2 had bad contact between the tailcap and body tube that was resolved by switching the tailcaps around. Otherwise they’ve been great. I’m definitely interested in a driver mod / change if anyone has tried that, I’m not a fan of the long press to off.

Im using the Efest IMR 14500 650mah and I have used the Sanyo cells without issues.
2 of my Efest have button tops and the others are flat top, they all work fine in both lights.
I do have some sanyo protected cells I can try, if that’s what your wondering if works.

I have had a few lights that have to make contact through the cap touching the bottom of the tube.
Most of the time I can clean the bottom of the tube and that solves the problem.
I have also read around here that these lights did have issues with protected or longer cells, cleaning will not fix that.
