Hi guys, Summer is approaching and i am after a new front light for the zesty so i can carry on my evening rides as the evenings draw in. I keep coming across these Cree Cree XM-L T6 2000 lumen lights and wondered if anyone has any experience with them, a mate has one of these:
I live in bicycle country #1, well maybe #2 of the world. There is two of us and we own four bikes, that’s about average here. Sometimes we have to get some last-minute groceries when it is dark, but we mostly use the bike-lanes. AND we live in a country where bicyclist are treated as sacred cows. Our only concern is getting from A to B. All others will have to do their best to avoid us and our fellow sacred cyclists.
You are not in that position. You have to look out for yourself. To make sure you can see enough and most of all that others can see you. If I had you worries and I had a $1,500+ bike I would not bet my life on a generic $5 light that most likely will shake to pieces the first time I use it. There is a reason to special bike lights. Drive safe, live long and prosper.
Well Henk4U2, we come from Amsterdam and had indeed several bikes for each famly member.
However, the bikelanes make it very easy in The Netherlands.
I have found that here in France the car drivers are much more carefull when it comes to cyclists. If they do not leave at least a meter space when passing and the Gendarmerie sees it one gets a fine and point deducted from drivers licence, 5 I think, with puts passing a bike without leaving enough space on the highest penalty level. So when there is a group of cyclists here it often happens a long row of cars is slowly riding behind them. Very nice.
Gracemia, that $5.30 light is worth it, but it is not a real great light.
It will be hard to find something similar in brightness for that price so please tell ut your budget and how much you know about Li Ion safety so we can suggest some good lights to you.
I should have known… But the story was quite elaborated. Member from 2011 with only 9 posts, writes Summer with capital S which is common among chinese because it’s a name, links to two identical lights and one of them from a little known chinese shop, the title is more like a ad than a genuine question, oh and location: America?
Gracemia, welcome to BLF! Glad your here! I started out with the exact same flashlight as the one you have shown. I actually had 4 of them and quickly lost interest in Zoom type flashlights. That was 4 years ago and have learned a lot here since then. The light you have chosen is probably the least expensive option you can find. Also comes with a holder, that could be a good thing if it is well made. There are better lights that you can get for your bicycle. Do a little reading here ask questions and read some reviews. Your on your way, just like I was in the beginning!! Have fun!!
If I were Cree Corp. I’d sue all these FL businesses using my name, and demand customs seize all flashlights coming into port, illegally using my name, . I would sue Amazon, ebay, any other online seller, and force them to cease and desist as well.
Using a lattice bright emitter in a flashlight is grossly misrepresenting the Cree name that they’ve already stolen in the first place. Almost like the OP misrepresenting which country she’s from.
The OP is a little title party. But I think CREE LED is just a part of a flashlight. Of course they could use CREE name if they really used it.No matter whether the flashlight’s quality is good or not.Would you think there is something wrong when we say “Android phone”? No offence.
Google licenses the use of the Android operating system, but you can’t print “Google” on your phone and sell as such without being sued. Cree does not license the free use of their name printed on a device to look like they are the manufacturer. Try creating a phone sometime using Apple’s OS, and call the phone an iPhone and see what happens.
Oh,God.You misunderstanding me. I’m not talking about “trademark right”.Of course, we can’t say the phone an iPhone. But we can tell people that it’s an ” Apple’s OS phone” for easy understanding and print ” using Apple’s OS” in the specification.BTW,I said “The OP is a little title party” means that he shouldn’t say “CREE lights”,but “CREE LED lights” is ok.
