Has anyone tried this 18650 dive torch?

This one

Any information would be great, thanks.

The description sounds good, and the pictures look OK. Nice square threads there. Slider is described as having a dimming function. Interesting.
Edit: it’s a Sky Ray, but I cannot read the model number… maybe SR100
SR-198, Manafont is a better price, I think
More info here

Thanks very much, I’m trying to work out what would be better / brighter, this or the Xtar D01 flashlight with Cree XP-G emitter – 18650 powered.
Obviously the link I posted to the ebay ad says 1800lm, but I’m guessing it’d be closer to about 400lm, and the Xtar is 350lm.

yes
there’s a review here by the and I added my impression also edit: Review: Magnetic control diving light (Cree XM-L T6 | 1 x 18650)
go for the xtar
around christmas there was a nice discount for xtar at this site. there’s probably still some coupon active. great customer service.

I already have a charger and 18650 battery, would this be an okay purchase? The site you posted appears to be out of stock.

ah, sorry I didn’t notice that

I highly recommend the D06 - although, I don’t dive, so I can’t speak to underwater performance. aside from that, I can it is a great light. I’m sure you can get info on that from a diving forum…

I see no reason to buy the xpg version. If I wanted more throw and less flood (which I probably would want if I were actually diving), then I’d either de-dome an xml2, or put an xpg2 in the xml version (mine pulls no more than 2.45A from high quality fully charged cells).

Not that the d06 xml doesn’t throw…it definitely does, in fact, for my purposes, it could be floodier, but I’ve read that backscatter from spill can be an issue for divers.

that is a good price you posted, but I’d make sure that whoever you buy it from is an authorized dealer, so that you are sure you will get what you’re paying for - specifically, the warranty.

if you email xtar they will tell you.

This appears to be XTAR’s eBay store, so I might just buy from there, it’s only a few dollars more and then I’ve got piece of mind knowing the warranty will be all good.

I don’t think it is - they sell crapfire cells and I doubt xtar would do that.

I’ve talked with them several times through email and they are very responsive. I bet they can just email you a list of authorized dealers and you could check for the best price/shipping.

Hm, you’re right, I’ve seen alot of D06 kits come with rewarapped Panny NCRA’s 3100mHa

I’m not sure I’d get a dive torch that was run by Li-ions….on land if you ever have a problem you can toss it away when it hisses and if you are close if you arent hit in the wrong place you’ll probably be fine…but underwater, since lithium reacts with water I would expect any breach started to be faster and more violent, and it doesnt have to hit you, the concussion may knock you out or disorient you…and that’s all it needs to do. Still rare for it to ever happen, but, on happening I’m guessing its pretty deadly…

Lithium metal reacts with water. Lithiun ions do not.
The rare case of explosion under water would be realnbad though.
These dive lights are quite popular. I wonder if there are any reports of cell failure on diving forums.

Just an update on this, I think I am just going to bite the bullet and buy a genuine XTAR D06

That one above seems to be from their eBay online store.
