Has the Opus or hobby charger caused you to recycle more batteries ?

Curious if after receiving a changer that allows you to measure capacities you were surprised with results .

Were your results higher or lower than you expected ?

Has it caused you to recycle more cells ?

I went through my NiMH cells and tossed quite a few after a refresh cycle. Many have always been suspect cells but it is good to know what they would really do.
Funny how often 1 out of a set of 4 is bad making the whole bunch suspect. Now I know.

I did find that you want to do the AA and AAA tests at 200ma. Otherwise they all read pretty lousy.

Only scrapped a couple of LiIons. Generally, the name-brand cells were about where I expected them to be.

I have recycled quite a few, but then again, i like to salvage cells from laptops and power tools.

I learned just how far behind Chinese made cells are. Seeing Trustfire Flames go from 2200+ to 600mah in the space of 9 months was unbelieveable. My Sanyos and Panasonics over the same period would be lucky to lose 1%.

I have been using a La Crosse on nicad and nimh cells for years. The batteries usually lasted longer because of proper cycling. And I was able to sniff out failing cells easily.

simple: yes!

i still have yet to recycle any cells in over 2 years of flashlighting lol

my oldest are aw ncra protected cells that have seen around 100 cycles from early 2012

It’s also interesting to see just HOW bad some of my older NiMh and *Fire li-on are.
Have an Accucell-6 hobby charger but doing single cells is tedious. Opus is much easier to crank out the tests.
