Far as I made it tonight.
Finally got the pictures right.
What is this for?
headlight for a motorcycle?
Of headlight to wear as human,it seems rather big.
Looks very nice machined
I’m curious about why the emitters are offset too. Here’s to hoping for complete success on your project- it’s looking good so far!

Headlight for wearing on my head. It’s only 65mm in diameter. The offset is to allow for the larger reflector I will be using on the top center one and some of it is where I didn’t take the time to transfer my measurements from my sketch up design to my machine work. It will have a spot and 2 flood beams one of which is red. I will use it coon hunting at night.
Do believe you should have enough light. What’s the specs on the driver, current, and batteries? Really interested in the final product. I am curious though as to why not use a MT-G2, XHP50, or XHP70? Should be able to get more lumens and similar candela in a smaller package
I am always interested in a head light build. Subscribed.
Looks interesting for sure, cannot wait to see the light completed.
Keep us updated! Great looking work so far…
My daughter just walked in and saw your heatsink. She said it looks like a face, it does!
Looking great, keep us posted I’d like to see what it looks like complete and of course beam shots if you can.
Using 2 xpl-hi’s and 1 xp-e2. Drivers are q lite 105s with 8*7135s except on the xp-e2 4 are removed and a 2p 4000mah 26650 pack. I have a variety of TIRs and reflectors to experiment with. I have no idea if it will work or how well. This is the first light I’ve built. If anybody has any suggestions of different components please post them or post links. I am learning here.
I would separate the red LED with its own switch. You know when you want red, so having to cycle through a UI to get to it, or out of it, kind of kills the need. A separate switch for red is my only suggestion. As for switches, Mountain Electronics has a good selection HERE and Richard always gives great service…
Not knowing if it will work, or how well is the most fun I have…
All 3 will be on seperate switches and mountain is where I ordered from. Good prices and awesome fast shipping.
Following with interest. Its different to the norm so far.
Some updates.
Some bad cell phone pics. Tree is 150ft away.

For a good cheap conformal coating, hit up Lowes or Home Depot and get some PlasiDip…
The paint on type and spray type are non conductive and waterproof if thick enough…
Use a FET driver on one of those XPL HI’s. … or both. >-)
I was just looking at different drivers on mountains website. Which FET drivers should I try? Also I’ve found that I can’t run any 2 of the 3 LEDs on 100% at the same time. Could my battery C rating be too low to allow this?
The 17/20/22/26mm fet drivers are all exactly the same just different sizes. Just remember that on 2 26650s, those XP-Ls are going to run HOT with a FET driver. Runtime will likely be under one hour. A FET driver will launch that XP-E2 to the moon, in a couple thousand peices. Keep the qlite for it.
