I ordered a Xtar H2 a month and a half ago for a trip i am taking early November but it still has not arrived and im quite worried it will not so i need a recommendation for a headlamp that i can buy in the UK for under £20(wont get here in time if i order from China). Im thinking about just getting a Alpkit Gamma or Muon (if it comes in stock in the next few days). I know there are many better lights for the price and there are many recommendations on the forum but most of them are from china or really expensive in the UK.
I dont really care what type of headlamp it is (AA,AAA,usb,16340, etc) or what type of throw it has (whatever it is it will most likely be of use to me in the future)
just need to get it in time for the trip.
If anyone can help me out id appreciate it.
Those Alpkit lights do indeed look like junk. Have a look at Torch Direct’s head torch offerings. They will ship to you the same day, and a cheap Fenix would be preferable to an overpriced Alpkit imho.
Thank you! I was about to buy the Gamma. (just because of its reputation, probably mostly outside of the flashlight world)
TorchDirect have a Fenix HL22 for £20….think il go for that…
I’d hold off for a little while - you might get other, more specific recommendations.
Yea, still looking around, still considering the Alpkit ones though.
Think i might just go for a Nitecore HB02 headstrap for now, still hoping the Xtar H2 comes before the trip.
I've got a Fenix HL 50 - great little head torch gets the most use, and a Zebralight (think it's an old style H51 or 2)
Also had an Alpkit gamma, good enough until I discovered BLF! Found it underpowered but useful, then the battery compartment lid broke. Repaired it then the alkaleaks inside leaked. I had tried using NiMH in it but all the ones I had were too long. it's now been taken apart and will be modded in to a pack strap map light, eventually.
Just received the Nitecore HB02 headstrap in the post today and wanted to say its fantastic. Exactly what i need for this trip, i was going to bring 3 Fenix flashlights anyway, but having the option to use them for 2 purposes suits me better.
