I’ve been thinking about buying a new ZL sc63w. The “subaru” styling of this light made me think it’d be a good candidate for some wrapping. Not wanting to add too much mass or size to the light or look too gaudy, I thought of this stuff. It’s generally used as abrasion resistance on hoses and wires, so it should be durable. Also, should allow the light to “breathe” a little while keeping it cool to touch.

I’m buying some and will report how well it works. Just sharing the concept here as others may find it useful.

Cheers

That looks good!
Very interested since it can protect a light as well.

yeah… that DOES look pretty cool… if the light it went on didnt have a lot of angles and stuff, if you know what i mean.

nice find!

USPS shipping only 2.49 and they accept PP. :sunglasses:

Any negative effect on the light’s ability to shed heat?

Interesting idea. Let us know how it works out.

Wish is was cheaper.

Yes. Wouldn’t be great for hot rods.

I wouldn’t recommend using this on any of your high output flashlights.

Your hand is the primary heat sink for such flashlights Air cooling is strictly secondary.

If anyone wants more than a couple feet, it looks like it’s cheaper on ebay. ebay search

While I agree with this concept, I don’t know the level of impact this would have in practical terms. How many of us, while using a light for serious work, actually hold the light in a way that provides significant surface area for transfer? Especially on hotter running lights, I know I have the tendency to find the coolest hand position (therefore the one with least heat transfer). There’s an off chance that this material can act as enough of a thermal barrier to promote better hold positions that counteract the negative properties……

Sh. It’s time for sleep.

PS Halo, thanks for the cheaper link! I can’t believe my cheap arse didn’t look there first…
