Heat sink question

Any advice on how big of a heat sink I should use when running a XPL or XML2 emitter at 2800 mA? Using a AMC7135 driver the LED should be around 10 Watts.

2.8 amps at 3.8 volts = 10.6 watts if my rusty math is right. Pretty much any 18650 size host would have adequate heatsinking. If you are talking flashlights that is. I wouldn’t even bother with copper, aluminum is just fine at that level.

Thanks for your reply. I’m planning on using a plastic case from a cheap camping light and adding a small heatsink, salvaged from a computer.

3”x3” of computer heat sink should do it for a passive 10W led(s)situation. This is from my practical experience with a 10W (3x Cree XTE @ 1A) desklamp.
