Welcome to the forum. Go Tigers. If it doesn’t do the job or falls apart, it’s just a cheap light and will get the review it deserves. A good inexpensive host that may need some upgrades will likely find buyers. Craftsmanship is always appreciated but this isn’t for the most part a “money is no object” crowd. There is some really nice work that is shown here and sold elsewhere.

It funny you mention the giggn' thing. One the the best flashaholic experiences I ever had was with a frog spear. Me, 2 of my best friends at the time ( one is now my girl friend) and 3 of my modded flashlights.
I think I am getting the feel for the "budget" thing now. Basically if surefire sells the new M6 guardian for $455.00 a popular item here would maybe be a good quality clone for say $159?

For those who don’t know Matt does a lot of customs- VERY good custom mods! I have around 5 of them- all my best lights.
I’d suggest our idea of budget here is simply this- say someone brings out a triple XML, high quailty and high output, but it’s worth $250. If someone can do a similar light with near the same output for $70, that’s our idea of budget. What we want usually is the cheapest (but worth while) similar style light to some of the better lights out there. We know that it won’t be the same quality but we hope it will perform and give us a lot of enjoyment, and the big difference is- we could afford it.
As a point of difference, there is another level of budget- quality at a good price, and that’s what you have offered many times. Excellent host, cutting edge performance but at a price that clearly doesn’t cover your time working on it, but gives the receiver a “keeper” light that will last them as long as they’re going to be around to use it. This is the only way some of us can get into the good stuff on a budget.
