Been lurking long enough to remember Foy’s well advised greeting to a previous new member of this forum.
He said something along the lines of: “get yourself a really nice light, or even 3, then flee, and never come back!”
Well intended, but too late! I’m hooked. I have “that crazed look”.
It starts with a few Sipik SK68’s, small, genuinely useful lights, to gift to friends and Family, so you say, then over a 100 purchases, and next thing you know you’re involved in Group Buys, with the MAP Police making raids, and an Acebeam K40M never too far out of reach.
Where did it all go wrong? How *did *my Bank Account become so depleted?
It’s too late for me now, I’m addicted, but I am Happy. Thank You, BUT……….
He may have fallen foul of his Wife wondering where all the money was going?
Or, he may have lost his Job?
The possibilities for a Flash-A-Holic of his Stature are endless!

P.S. I saw a light described on a website as having a “Foy Bezel”. Made me smile
I’ve already established that I’m a ten-thumbed talent less solderer.
I tend to kill about 50% of what I try to repair, but I’m not letting the frustration and undue expense stop me, as I know that in time despite my unrealistic confidence in my future skills, that with enthusiasm and a large box to hide the “spares” all will come well in the end LOL
Did you hear the joke about the flashaholic that fell into a sinkhole? Instead of using his cellphone to call the emergency number, he called home and asked his wife to bring his Zebralight headlamp, a floody torch, and a camera to document the ordeal for a new BLF thread.
The fact that I’m sitting here with the room partly lit by a flash light aimed at the ceiling, instead of the lamp stand next to me, is just ’cos I’m er, testing the batteries! That’s it, batteries HaHa
Welcome. Admittedly this generation of flashlights are so much better than what we were used to, and we can hunt/find some of them at bargain prices (and who doesn’t get a thrill from a bargain), but once we admit that we aren’t going to gift a lithium-powered light to a novice and we limit ourselves to AA or AAA powered lights for gifts, the impulse to continue to buy gets easier. Once each vehicle has two or three lights, and perhaps each room in the house, as well, it gets easier. Once you have lights that have one, and two, and three LEDs (or nine), once you have lights that use 10440s, and 16340s, and 14500s, and 18650s, it gets easier. Doesn’t it? Part of the attraction of this place is that most of the people are so darned nice. Welcome aboard.
Yes I’ve just taken a 32650 off of a VP-2 charger (used magnet on the tail), so I’m starting to cover most bases re. batteries!
I love the variety of preferences on this site, so many varied opinions, but still getting along fine in general.
I know what you mean about vehicle lights. I have Winter or Summer selections in the glove-box, as cars can get quite warm inside in Summer, apparently, even in Norfolk!
I may have to start reporting in the Flashlight Refusal thread, as in the past I’ve let a few other Acebeam K40M’s go at bargain prices, for the reason you mention above.
I just wrote, replying to RobK’s message, I was thinking of mentioning the Acebeam K40M’s I’d refused to buy at bargain prices on that thread, when you wrote your comment!
Welcome Splott-Light! The problem with this place is it starts out as a few budget lights. Then you move on to a lot of budget lights. Then you start buying expensive lights and custom lights and it’s all over. When I first got back into flashlights (due to a friend and this forum) I thought 30$ was a lot to spend on a light. Now under 200 is considered reasonable. 0:)
Welcome to the community! I guess everyone who joined were ‘already’ having the ‘sickness’ or were ‘falling sick’ to refuse running away from this hobby! but then you’ll be leaving great company behind so I’d rather stay while my bank account depletes LOL
