I would bet the TN31 at 115,000 lux with one single XM-L will out throw the BTU shocker easily.
Been checking some reviews…. & looked at some pics… It looks like the shocker lays waste to the TN 31…
TN31 clearly throws better. But BTU has bigger hotspot and more spill.
I was going by which light is lighting up the building more in the TN31/BTU mouseover.
Uh, no. TN31 doesn’t clearly have better throw. Both lights are very close in throw.
Anyway, I think the btu , tk75, and tn31 all have advantages and disadvantages.
The TN31 is currently the cheapest of the bunch and probably the most practical for normal use. And it obviously throws it butt off. Only issue is the possible quality control of late. Though Kummabear is trying to help prevent it.
Now the Tk75 and btu are both similar in form factor an performance. The BTU does take the lead in output and in throw. The tk75 takes the lead on easier operation(side clicky) and light weight. The btu does add the easier to mod ability too.
So here is the way I see it -
If your trying to keep the cost down, but want to get an excellent light and thrower, get the TN31.
If you are going to use the light likely everyday and want a ton of power to go along with the throw, get the TK75.
If you want just pure brute force and awesome throw, but don’t mind a little more heft and metal in a light, get the BTU.
But all in all, any of the three would make an awesome gift choice.

Trust me if you get a TN31 that puts out around 115,00 lux at one meter it will out throw the TK70 or the BTU Shocker.
Well, if it were me and I had a blank check for any of those lights I'd go with the new ZL without any hesitation. They ALWAYS live up to their hype and deliver on every promise. It promises to be one hell of a light!
I’ve been seeing stats that say the Shocker is putting out 130 kcd… That’s unverified. Right now… Flashlights & lux meter on their way…

i decided to get Fenix TK75 from Lapolicegear for $169.99, i like the idea you can extend the battery compartment up to 9 extension, i doubt it i would go more than 3 extensions.
but you never know, maybe someday i need to use a bright light for periods of several hrs at a time
oh yeah i also order Thrunite TN30 in NW from kumabear ( christmas gift to myself :laughing:
since fenix TK75 won’t be here at least couple of weeks… maybe she’ll forget about that light hehe 0:)
