Help - High mode is not working properly

Just received a UF light from an on-line company in China but when i checked it out, the high mode is dimmer than the strobe and SOS mode. So I place a meter at the end of the light and the reading were:

strobe - 3.0 a
SOS - 3.0 a
high - 1.6 a
med - 0.7 a
low - 0.3 a

Did I get a lemon? Is there some I can try?

Thanks in advance.

Its most likely programmed to be like that. If you are able to lower the resistance, you would most likely increase output on all modes.

What light? Is this an HD2010? Those with "bad" low output East-092 drivers behaved this way. Not sure a "fix" is available.

Bummer, it sounds like it maybe programmed and nothing can be done.

Have you checked the driver and wiring?

Garry, I recently received a hd2011 that does this same thing.

I had an HD2010 from TMart (strongly recommend AGAINST!) that had the same issue. A driver swap to a Fasttech 3A Nangj driver solved the issue for me too. It was an easy swap and I upgraded the emitter wire gauge at the same time.

If you also have an HD2010, check into whether the reflector is shorting out the emitter pads. I don’t have and HD2011 so I can’t speak on that one. I added two layers of Kapton tape to my reflector as an insulator. The stock centering ring was very poor quality and did not do a good job at both centering and keeping the reflector away from the base.

Thanks all, I will try swapping out the driver and see what happens.

Has this Pwm on high?

bad joke: so it is DimKen then for the time being?

I will order a new driver and see what happens.
