Help - installed KD 7135 V2 into 501B with XML U2 and only draws 1.45a

Hi Everyone

As the title says - i’ve got a KD 7135 V2 (the 3amp version with 8 chips) installed in my XML U2 501b tonight and the test through my multimeter is that the LED is only drawing 1.45amps from a newly charged and very new Sanyo 2800ma 18650.

Any ideas?

Could it be the lead wire gauge size to the LED? They looked fairly small (i didnt change them, they were the ones that came with the torch in the first place, with a 1.4amp driver)??

What do you tend to run for a 3amp XML U2?

I’ve also tried some Samsung 2800 cells too and they give the same result.

More likely than not, it's the gauge size of your DMM probe that's limiting the current.

While testing, get someone to jump a wire from battery -ve to the body. If you see a significant brightness change, then your test probe is too small.
