Help me update Xeno G42 V1 emitter choice.

I have an old G42 That I want to bring up to date. I think I got this around 2012.
Current emitter as labeled on the box is XP-G 3C R5.
I was only involved in the hobby a short time and have gotten back into it now.
I have no real intended use use for this light other than the project it self and I think it can be improved.

I just dont know all of the ins and out of emitter choices and their characteristics to make the best choice.
Here is the factory setup.

the pcb measures 14mm, led chip itself measures about 3.25mm and the hole in the reflector measures about 4.5mm.
I don’t have exact measurements because my caliper measures in inches with a scale on the body for mm.
I figure I can reduce a 15-16mm mcpcb to fit and drill out the reflector hole to fit a new spacer.

Things I am unsure of the moment are what emitter to choose and when drilling the reflector should I got from the inside or outside?

Thank you for advice anyone can lend.

You’ve got some options that would use the same size package so you could use the same centering ring and not have to bore out the reflector. Any Cree that starts with XP has the same package size. The luminus SST20 also has the same size. An XPL HI would give you a similar size beam but potentially a lot more lumens.

You probably want to upgrade the driver too if possible since the stock driver only outputs 1.5A I think.

But most important would be switching to a DTP LED board

Agreed that you should be able to sand down a 16mm MCPCB to fit your needs. My personal favorite store Mountain Electronics has a great selection of LEDs that you can choose from.

I shouldnt be so impulsive.
LOL I already have packages in the mail from MTM.
If I waited a bit now and then I could save a ton on shipping.

Xpl-hi it is and and 17DD+fet driver.
