Help modding work spotlight

I purchased a ‘10W’ led Work light for which the charger promptly stopped working. I pulled it apart and appears to have a single cheap 18650 batt but no driver.

I’ve got a few lights but never modded any.

I was thinking if I install a TP4056 with voltage protection and 1 or 2 quality battery?

Would I need a driver, if so can you recommend one to me.

Thanks

A USB powered work light huh. If you do the batteries parallel you can keep it direct drive as long as that is a standard 3.7 volt nominal lithium. Make sure to use matching batteries (age as well as model)

Was it very bright? There’s room for improvement if you want to push the light harder I’d bet.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will use the TP4056 charge circuit mounted on a heat sink, but don’t think it suitable to charge two batteries simultaneously?

The light has potential for a good mod its just in the wrong hands haha. If I wanted to push it so it can shine more (no pun intended) adding driver be the route?

A driver would give you more consistent light by giving you constant current through the light. You can also get drivers with low voltage protection to keep your battery safe. I don’t see a problem with running the charger to two batteries in parallel. It should go to constant voltage the same and just split the current between the two.

Were did you buy that work light? I like it…

Yeah, I'm curious too. I'll soon be starting a project where I'll be modding a 12v flood light work light powered from a cigarette lighter socket. It'll have a magnetic base mount for roof/trunk mounting. I'll probably post a build thread.
