to learn component level stuff while you have the advice available on this forum.

My furnace needed a circuit board which contained a relay and four diodes.
The supply house wanted $200 so I got a relay from Digi-key for $11 inclu. shipping.
I do have to add an RC filter, though, to this relay but paying myself $100/hr is tax free income.

Just find a nice, study brick wall and start banging your head against it… your gate will be swinging free in no time. Works for me! J)

OL you are lucky. You have one gate. I have two and there both open. Goes in one gate and out the other. Keep up the good info guys. Cheers.
