HELP!!! One of the threads of my flashlight got stuck. I can only move it 4mm each direction before it gets stuck again. One direction is maximum tightness, and the other direction is unscrewing, but 4mm later, it gets stuck again. I tried to use 2 mousepads to get extra grip, wd-40… NO luck! any reason why this happens?
Which flashlight model is it?
XINTD X3

Head and body tube. Very confused on how this could happen. I had tightened this all the way before and could unscrew it with no problems.
Sounds like something has come loose and is jamming it. Tap upside down to dislodge maybe?
alka leak ?
A 26650 was used. I was twisting it little by little to get rid of the PWM whine. It suddenly got stuck after that.
Is this the one with the PWM whining that changed when you twisted the head/tail on its threads? I think youre the same poster.
Well that answers that, and more.
I put it in the freezer for 3 hours, then dipped the tube in boiling water. NOPE. Be warned guys, if you twist it in too tight, this shit might never come out ever again. Do you guys think Gearbest can replace just my body tube? I could saw most of the tube off and use pliers to get it out.
Does it feel like metal seizing, or could it just be the o-ring getting chewed up by the threads?
Probably not the o ring because the tension is like “instant stop” where as an o ring would be a little “giving”
I would try to unscrew with serious force before sawing it off…
Maybe clamp it in a vice, and with a pipe wrench…
Sounds like a chunk of thread broke off and is binding things up ![]()
I’m really dreading getting my X3s now… :weary:
Why? I bought mine when they first came out about a year and a half ago. Just checking it now it unscrews fine. Out of all of the X3's sold, the OP seems to be the only one with this unfortunate problem. I think you're safe...
Haven’t tried lubrications?
A thin lube helps a lot. On my “stuck” problems, I usually use a generous silicon spray, let sit for an hour or so, and try again. In your case, rubber gloves or grippy equivalent is quite necessary.
Does the tail cap and or pill (via the front) come out so you can see in there and get the cell out before trying something more than you have?
Go get yourself a can of spray air and serously freeze that shit, freeze the male threaded part (head) with the female part (body) at room temp.
The back unscrews fine so I can get the battery out. I just asked my two buff cousins to hold each end… But no luck LOL. I am able to open the front but that only gives access to mpcb. The head is a giant chunk of aluminum where the mpcb sits on. Good thing I was able to mod this light before it locked itself. I switched the original wires with much thicker copper wires. Stacked an extra 2 7135’s. Copper braid. The light runs warm/hot after 5 minutes without my hand touching it on a 26650. This is perfect. If my hand was touching it to absorb the heat, I think the light would never overheat on max. I think adding another 2 7135’s and the light will still handle perfectly fine with hand cooling.
Make a mix of ATF (automatic transmission fluid) oil and acetone. Mix it half and half. Spray liberally. This is the best anti freeze liquid I ever tried. It is what WD40 wants to be when it grows up. But sure sounds like you have a particle stuck in there. You may try to give it a good couple of whacks with a woodem mallet or bang it on a piece of wood. Sometimes that will just loosen up stuff like this as if they were never stuck in the first place.
If that fails then fix it in a vice and apply moderate force to it while you hit the sides of the threaded part with a wooden mallet. Sometimes takes a looong time but usually does the trick eventually. (I spent half a day like this once. It won not flashlight related so totally OT here :-)
Since the back opens up and the light works as is why not just use it?
Other choices: a BFH!
Put body in a vice upside down, spray PB Blaster around head and work back and forth slowly with a strap wrench around the bezel. Sound’s like the threads are galled up.
