Help with Emisar D4Sv2 emitter

I’m about 1 week into flashlights and the last one I want to buy for awhile Is the Emisar D4S v2. Since I haven’t received any of my recently ordered flashlights as of yet, I wanted to ask for some help on the emitter selection.

I tend to like pure white, cool white and neutral white without the yellow hues.

I want something throwy, but also has some flood. I’m not looking to burn a hole into the moon with a laser beam. I want something that has good candela and lumens, and something that doesn’t get hot as my gringo belly when I have 10 star spicy Thai food.

Any suggestions?

That’s easy: don’t get a D4. All emitter options get hot enough to thermal throttle within a few seconds of turning on at max with a high-drain 18650.

D4Sv2 meets his flood + throw requirement.

If you are willing to pay 10$ more the XPL HI are said to have a neutral tint and they are throwy. The XPL HD has a few more lumen but throws less.

The SST20 are generally speaking green on low levels, the 3000K or 4000K have low output but 95CRI (more red, nicer color rendition). They are a cheap alternative to the XPL HI’s but less consistent in color.
The Nichia leds are floody, get hot fast but are not that bright.
The XPG2 is an older led but it has no tint shift with current. It doesn’t throw as far as the SST20 but has about the same brightness.

Which led you choose depends on your personal preference. If you want more information on specific leds you can search TK’s Emisar D4S review thread, maybe there are some beamshots as well.
