HEPA Air Purifiers: Do you use them? Good Ones/Bad ones

I started this thread to see if any members are running any room HEPA air purifiers. After I got sick, my home environment deteriorated, and probably started compounding on my health problems. After I got better, and had energy again, I started a major rehab of my apartment. Dust was everywhere, that's for sure. I cleaned and painted every room from ceiling to floor. I even threw out dusty old furniture and replaced it with leather. Big difference.

Then I started getting interested in HEPA air purifiers. Like most people, my first purchases were okay, but lower end and probably not powerful enough to take care of the room sizes. (Don't believe all the sq. ft. Specs) I did more research, and corrected the problem with proper selections. The difference in my environment is incredible. I feel better. I breath better. I sleep all night long and wake up with clear sinuses. Friends that live in my building say they can notice the difference in the air quality as soon as they enter my apartment. It's that noticeable.
Just wondering who else is running HEPA air purifiers, and their personal thoughts. What kind, what rooms, do you notice a difference?....problems.
I have a two bedroom apartment. I'm running two Austin Airs and two Blueairs. The second bedroom is now converted into my hobby (flashlight/knives) room. The door is always shut and I leave my original purchases in there running on high. (GermGuardian and HeavenFresh)

i’m using a winix 5500 in my approximate 250sqft room, dramatic changes since i got it, no more allergies and i can breathe much better, i had to take allergy pills for about 2 years every night before sleep, haven’t had a pill since i got my air purifier. i don’t think i can ever live without it anymore.

I’m currently using Sharp KC-860U Plasmacluster air purifier and no more nasal congestion during night!

I’m having my best winter ever. I have gotten my environment so dust free that I don’t even need to clean the pre filters. All my Hepas are also equipped with large amounts of charcoal, and some with HEGA filters too. My place has no odors. No smell at all. Totally inert. Nothing worse than coming home from work and the first thing you smell is whatever you cooked for the last three days. If I put on some cologne and walk by a purifier, the sensors pick it up, the purifiers ramps up…and eats it.

Because of the radiator heating, my place became so dry, my nose would bleed while I slept. I bought a Venta humidifier that keeps things at around 45% humidity. Between the HEPAS and the Humidifier, I’m enjoying my most comfortable winter. Nothing worse than being locked in a bad environment

My cat likes it too…

Maybe your purifier is trying to tell you something…

I run an IQ air health pro plus in the bedroom, vacuum weekly with a miele c3 with hepa filter and have a 5” MERV 16 filter in my HVAC system. I noticed the biggest difference with a clean and properly sealed HVAC system to keep out attic and basement air that was getting sucked in. The IQ air mostly runs as a white noise machine at night.

We have an IQ air filter at work that gets used more (run on high overnight and low during the day). It’s been going for about 2.5 years now and we feel it has made a difference. That and getting rid of all the plants helped too.

I like the older round Honeywell air purifiers. The hepa filters can be a bear to track down but they work quite well. And if used daily on low I take the hepa filter out to the air compressor once a week and blow it out.

Another “Thumbs Up” for the Winix 5500. I bought a second one for another room. Damm if these things cannot sense and speed up the fan in the presence of a fart or alcohol fumes from hand sanitizer.

They are very quiet and it is easy to service the filters. I found them at Costco online for $129.

Looks good to me, but can't find it at Costco.

I couldn’t either, but that’s not uncommon with Costco. The 5500 disappeared after I bought the first one, then showed up in a sale email. I have found them in other places for about $179.

We used to have hepa filters.
We needed them for our son who was sneezing and coughing.
I has to get those big filters now and then, they costs a small fortune.

Then my wife bought a glass bowl with an ionizing top.
The bowl needed to be filled with water
The air was filtered and dust got into the water, so just clean out the bowl and replae the water was all that needed.
Very nice product, however, I have no idea how it is called.
A google image search (ionizing air purifier glass bowl) brought me to this pic that looks similar to what we had.

My sons room was 4m wide, 4.5m long and 3.3m high at the front of our house in Amsterdam near a very busy street.
I haven’t seen it since the move and we do not need it.

Ah my wife just told me, it did not survive the move here and she bought it at the Albert Cuyp market, an open ar market and it had no brand she can remember.
