Hey pare so you how do you like them man....so which one became your fav. The Fenix LD10 looks nice indeed. Out with the old and in with the new.
I'm so jealous. Those are really nice lights. Looking forward to hearing more about what you think about them.
Hey, congrats! Those are some beautiful and practical tools right there, enjoy them and treat them well! I'd be very interested to see a detailed review of these for comparison with the generic Chinese budget lights. If you want to do a review, the review template is here and the instructions for adding pictures are here.
Thanks, enjoy!
Im really digging the LD10, i just wish Fenix found a more secure way for the clip.
It's been dark for over an hour now and I've been walking around inside and outside the house with my flashlights like a kid with new toys....shining them everywhere and anywhere. I actually think the neighbors are about to call the cops on me so I went back inside the house. lol I can't even compare these to my old duracell durabeams because thay are SO much brighter......just amazing!
One thing I don't like about the Quark AA R2 is that it won't stand on it's tail but I guess that is how Tactical versions of flashlights are made. Other than that, they are all awesome!
So which one is your favorite so far.
I've only had them for a few hours and I like each one for different reasons so far. It will probably change as I use them more and more but I really like the extra brightness of the Quark. I do love the compactness of the Fenix LD10+ and to me; it does look cooler than the Quark. The tiny Fenix E01 is on my key chain and I wish it was a little brighter. I love the solid aluminum feel and heft of all of them compared to all of my old plastic flashlights.
Suppose you won't be yet, given that I'm assuming you are in the USA. New lights are a lot of fun. Just be a bit careful indoors at night. I live alone and am an extremely sound sleeper. I can, and have, slept through automatic gunfire just outside my house.
Someone saw the lights, called the cops. I didn't hear them ringing me on the phone, I didn't hear them ringing my doorbell, in fact I didn't hear them breaking in. First I knew was being shaken awake by two cops at 2am. Very grateful our cops aren't armed - I am not at my best when being shaken awake by cops at 2am.
Then they had the effrontery to charge me the callout charge for the carpenter who had trashed my back door breaking in. That bill did not get a polite response, nor did the threats to take me to court over my refusing to pay it. It did help that my father is a former head of the law faculty at the local university and a retired judge.
So if you are as sound a sleeper as i am, be a bit careful when playing with lights indoors.
Aloha Don! I don't think the cops here would break into someones home like that but you never know. I hope it doesn't happen to me. lol I am kind of surprised that the cops didn't show up because I was playing with my flashlights until about 3am or so.
I'm just so amazed at how much light these little things produce.
You must have more sensible cops than we do.
Remember my first (and 2nd and 3rd, and 70th) bright light - which I'd now consider a turn-on for a glow-worm but not actual usable light. Couldn't stop shining it at everyone for months...

And have a lot of fun along the way.
Am out into the wilds (relatively speaking) on Thursday to where there is plenty of quality darkness and 3 inquisitive horses and one that is far too busy eating to let anything else bother him, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a lot of chickens to confuse with silly amounts of light at night.
If it isn't raining, beamshots will happen.
My brother must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like the place where they say Aloha.
The USAF used to train their anti submarine aircrew there. (THey may still do so, I wouldn't know)
He spent 20 years doing that in the RAF and wasn't impressed much by the USAF - to put it mildly. Hawaii meant training with them again so he's the only person I'll ever hear saying, "Oh no, not £$$^%^$% Hawaii again" The people he was training with invariably outranked him by a lot. Having spent 3 weeks of my life (Out of 50 years) wearing a uniform, I wouldn't know.
He was very, very impressed with their equipment though.
After that digression, I'd like to live where you do. There might be a shortage of darkness though - we still have more than 12 hours a day of it here though the days are getting longer. By Sunday we will only have 11hr 45 min of dark - today we had 12hr 8.5 minutes. In 3 months' time it'll hardly get dark at all.
21 years ago I was working in Shetland (Right by UNT airport) where it was perfectly possible to read a newspaper at 2am by available light in summer. It just didn't get light at all from October-Feb. A truly wonderful place to play with lights in winter.

LOL Don. I'm actually looking at buying a few more but this time from either ShiningBeam or DealExtreme. I'm still going to stick with 1AAA, 1AA, and 2AA flashlights (one of each and each a different brand) since I have plenty of AA and AAA batteries.
Any recommendations?
If i may i would like to recommend the Romisen RC-N3 Q5 version from shiningbeam......And if possible you might also want to check out the C or S series of ITP lights as well. Im glad the light issue has'nt happened to me yet....i like to shine mine across the way into the neighbors yards...lol. Glad to see that your enjoying them.
1AAA Fenix E01
10440 Trustfire F23 Arc AAA (but only if you live in the USA - the postage outside the USA is extracting the Mickey. 50$ for an 18 gram object is out of order.
14500/AA lights - mainly 14500 capable which means dim on AAs -Ultrafire C3 Q5 Stainless Steel, Trustfire F22 - but see Mr. Admin's recommendations if you don't want to use lithium cells.
2AA is not a format I prefer to use. 2AAA is not a format i use in budget lights but take a look at the Preon series from 4sevens.com. My review of the Preons is here. http://www.jayki.com/6484
Depends how far you are from a charger really.
I'm also a big fan of AA lights. I would recommend the following, in this order:
You'll probably want to look through the AA light reviews, there's a lot of excellent choices. Enjoy the search, and let us know what you finally decide on!
Thanks guys! I'll start reading reviews and then go from there.
Reading the reviews and deciding what is next is a big part of the fun. If you ever find the perfect light, please don't tell us - it'd spoil all the fun...
Or write a review saying why it isn't the perfect light. :)
You have a lot of reading to do bud.....a lot of good info on this forum.
