Here's A Few Beamshots For You Boys

I thought these turned out pretty cool. No zoom on these 3. And again I think the SP2(nite selection) is the best for my camera. This seems to be just about what I see. Now I like shooting these 3 lights because they are my best 3 XM-L throwers.

Sunwayman T40CS call it 70yds

Olight M3X 70yds

Crelant 7G5 70yds

Crelant 7G5 200yds again no magnification

That last one is bad to the bone!

I’m envious of the lack of light pollution. You must live in the countryside or at least close to it. I have nothing but street lights all around me. It’s hard to test lights like that.

There is no lights out where I live. It's pitch black unless the moon is out.

I'm going to add the M3X and T40CS 200yd shots in just a bit.

Astronomy is one of my other hobbies. You should get into that given your location. It would be awesome!

Olight M3X 200yds

Sunwayman T40CS 200yds

You can pretty well tell the Crelant 7G5 will win that one.

And I'm aiming the beams on the last electric pole at the top.

I'll see if I can get some better focused shot at 200yds with the M3X and T40CS.

Ok I put the better focused shots in the old ones place.

And here's a control shot.

Thank you :-)

And there was a moon out tonite but the cloud front is covering most of it.

And I want you guys to notice this shot. Look at the illuminisence off of the brightness of the hotpsot and how wide it goes around the tree compared to the others. That tells you the 7G5 is brighter.

Seems like he is in a blue or grey zone.

I am in red! I look at my sky and I wanna cry! No doubt i'd need to make full use of UHC and O-III.

And I just came back from a grey zone in Indonesia. The zenith here is signifcantly brighter than the sky just above the horizon over there. !#$@#!#%

You can tell just by the density and brightness of the beam itself that is visible as an almost solid column of light in your first batch of pics. The Crelant is pumping far more and better focused lumens.

Nice shots ILF! I too live in an area away from a lot of light pollution, but my terrain is very rolling with a lot of woods. I'm still trying to find a good place to photo long beamshots. I can only get about 400 feet max at my house and that's not in a convenient area to setup a tripod and take pictures. I like testing throw where there is a line of utility poles. Nice objects fairly evenly spaced to make judgements by.

How are you holding / aiming the flashlight? Is it on a tripod? I've found using a conduit clamp mounted to a tripod top works great. I even use a wingnut on the bolt for quick release of the flashlight. Here's a similar idea using 2 conduit clamps for a bike mount:

(Please don't judge me based on these two lights shown. They were at the beginning stages of my flashaholism and I hadn't moved up to Li-Ion yet.)

Looks like the Crelant has more throw because it has a lot less spill area. Just look the pool in these shots.

Garry,

I'm holding the flashlights by hand.

The 7G5 has more lux in its hotspot. You can plainly see that here in the tree shots.
