Hi from the Netherlands

Hi!

After lurking for a while I thought it was time to make an account, so here I am!
I’m an IT student and I work on the side as a lighting engineer for concerts, which means I get to play with a lot of fun lights like moving lights, PAR cans and 2000W ERS lights

(That’s me blinding a guitar player) :cowboy_hat_face:

I think you may approve of the cheapness of my current collection:

Ultrafire C3 (got me started in CREE led flashlights, had to mod it to get it to work properly. Contains a P4 I think.)
UltraFire WF-501 (contains an XML-T6)
Ultrafire WF-502B (contains a (light)blue CREE emitter of which outshines the T6)
Trustfire T2 (XP-G, hasn’t arrived from China yet)
Brandless zoomable LED headlamp (XRE or XPG I think)

Welcome to BLF! Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the forum.

There are a few other members from the Netherlands here as well.

Groetjes !

Dag en welkom bij BLF!

And I was wondering why some of those guys wear sunglasses on stage in the middle of the night... ;)

Can you recommend any gigs in Amsterdam worth visiting the 19th or 20th of April? Will be visiting some friends in Leiden that weekend and am in the process of planning my stay.

Cheers,

Huny

A huge welcome from the uk :D

Thanks for the welcome guys!

@Huny: I’m not too familiar with Amsterdam, ask your friends if they know any good spots!

Welcome to the family, Citruspers!! You're off to a good start with your lights. It's all downhill from here into the pit of brokeness and excess flashlights. :p

I have definitely noticed that Johnny, right now I’m eyeballing at least a couple of lights, one of which a recoil thrower design I’m very much interested in…

Oh and

Even in the small venue I work at there’s about 10 kW of lights available for blinding the artists, plus 4kW on standby as we don’t have enough power run run those as well. You wouldn’t believe how many complaints I get from artists, even when I’m only running a couple of lights, at 10%. You’d think they’d rather play in the dark!

On the plus side I do have a couple of nice 250W HID moving heads with a strobe function, with the ability to remotely point them at our sound guy and change the color to pink J)

Will do. But since they're a family with 4 kids, I was just hoping that a Concert lighting engineer and Whisky lover might had some suitable tips.

Enjoy BLF!

Getting paid for blinding other people with powerful spotlights sounds like a flashaholic's dream!

Yes, except I don’t work in Amsterdam, and whisky is way too expensive to drink in bars.

Unfortunately getting paid in this business is pretty darn tough, but then again I’ve only been doing it for a couple of years. Still, you have to enjoy working with light sources that are literally called “blinders” (the warm floodlights that are turned on when the crowd is hyped, or for a small flash on an intense musical peak).
And the strobe lights….3kW strobe lights with a “continuous on” mode……

Hope you enjoy, lots of crazies in here — but you will soon be crazy, also: it rubs off. We actually have quite a few tech junkies in here, you might enjoy, Welcome

Welcome to BLF citruspers! Your flashlight collection may be small now, but you stick around here for a while and you’ll need a spreadsheet just to keep track of them and the batteries for them.
Actually, I’m not kidding. The spreadsheet is good, especially for batteries.

Yes, but remember: if you start thinking about a spreadsheet for your spreadsheets you probably want to call for an intervention.

Yes that would be absolutely ridiculous…everyone knows you’d have to create a database to keep track of your spreadsheets!

And then a reminder system to ensure you keep them up to date

welkom citruspers! I am from Amsterdam and I do not know any gigs either .

Welkom citruspers!
Lees en geniet!

Welcome and enjoy your stay at BLF

Dankjewel & Arigato, Djozz and Chibi!

Ik spreek beter Nederlands dan Japans
