My name is Ryan and I have a problem. This is too addictive! Just a few weeks in and I am itching for my next light/build. Richard has been all too accommodating has has me hooked.
I quite smoking recently and switched to e-cigs (mods), so I have a nice little collection of batteries and figured I would see if these batteries are used in flashlights and sure enough… here I am.
Convoy c8 is a really nice combination of throw vs flood that can handle the heat very well. The s8 is very pocket-able, great rosy tint but can’t handle too long at 100% (not really a negative). The m1/mt-g2 is amazing! Great tint, huge wall of light that fits in a pocket (not much throw and low run time though). S10a… not fond of since it is almost the size of the 18650’s yet less than half the output but it does handle the 14500’s quite well. I3s is fantastic for the size, puts out a lot of light with a 10440 (get warm fairly fast but handles medium very well). Z1 is a neat zombie beating zoomie with an extension and 2 26650’s.
Next up will probably be a more suitable host for a mt-g2 build… I think this emitter would do very well with a pair of 26650’s and some decent heat management. Richard has pointed me towards the Yezl y3. I am reading up.
Cheers and thanks to everyone here for the great site!,
Ryan
The Y3 is a sweet light but it takes quite a bit of playing around to get down perfect with the xml. I love it’s size really, it’s not too big but it’s got a good pill and sink. It’s stock buck driver can run a MT-G2 with up to 3 batteries in series np I found. That would be a easy swap to go MT-G2. The bad thing imo is it is built to throw and modded, I hate to say it, but the Y3 can’t handle the heat when the juice is loose- you will burn your hands sooner than later.
I was going to try a dedomed MT-G2 in it once to see if it could throw, but I gave up on the idea after it turned into a flaming torch when pushed domed.
I will be checking in quite often and reading/researching. I am very happy with the handful of lights that I already have so I will have to really figure out the next one… and next one.
