Hi!!

Welcome to the world of insanity!

Have you considered getting a TrustFire F35.

Welcome “Chloe”….you have to be careful with those sk68 clips. They can be a bit too “Tacticool” for some!

Hi Chloe,

I have been reading these posts and think I know you well enough to know that you would like actually owning the J18. They are quite expensive, they surely don’t give them away! But a light like that would give you comfort while on your long walks. The J18 would give you power over the darkness surrounding you. It is a killer light. If you are curious as to what they look like, I understand that the light makes a brief cameo in the upcoming Sci-Fi flick MIB4. You know, the one starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

HA!Good work , dchomak! There is a lot of drama tied to those J18’s!

Ahh… my bad. I forgot it was a Tazzie I accused of being an Aussie who got all upset on me

Watched a great documentary recently about Eric Bana entering the Taga Rally. Roads looked like a dream for bikers, unfortunately a bit of a nightmare for muscle cars as Eric discovered to his cost.

If that’s what people call a warm welcome around here, I’d hate to see the cold shoulder.

I wonder how many girls are in “stealth” around here, just so they won’t get comments like the above. Or how many simply decide not to make accounts, for similar reasons.

Nope, sorry. ^ー^

Thanks for the suggestion. It’s a bit too blingy for my taste though. I just ordered an Aurora SH-036.

Thanks for the welcome! You needn’t use quotes; it’s my real name. :stuck_out_tongue:

The SK68 clip is horrible. I don’t see how it is “tacticool” though? :~

The J18 looks enormous, but thanks for the suggestion anyway!

Good point, ToyKeeper. I imagine several. :frowning: I suppose it could be worse… :frowning:

One has to wonder though, are some guys really that insecure about women encroaching on “their” territory? I guess the answer is a resounding yes. Poor things. >.<

Thanks, ToyKeeper. I’ve had to throw away a few things from alkalines leaking in them. :frowning: So from what I understand of lithium cells, it gets risky using more than one cell in a torch. But one will be okay, like the cell in my phone?

I’ve only just started using NiMH again (I found I had some spare AAA’s that work with my new Tank007 TK-703!) and completely forgot about having to use them like that. My netbook and phone are pretty much always on charge if I’m near mains power. I suppose for an outdoor torch I’m going to want to keep it topped up.

I don’t think that’s weird at all! Actually it makes me feel a bit more normal. I’m really photosensitive and can’t tolerate “normal” lighting for too long, it can give me headaches from the fatigue. I need soft ambient lighting, which for a lot of people might be too dark. It can be a pain though because my partner prefers the big bright lights and complains they can’t see. >.<

I think you’d both be suprised how many low lumen junkies there are, take the blf a8. A lot were put off by the moon low, till they used it, it is really useful, particularly if you do the night feed for a grumpy baby, my partner says its great, she never gets woken up while I’m sorting out our little one, and it never disturbs the kids when I check on them before bed. My favorite lights are builds I’ve done that use a ramping driver, it goes dim enough to look at the led and bright enough to scare the dark off, one light for almost all tasks. 8) obviously I’ve built four or five of them now, I just don’t own all of them any more, I had to share.

Anyway, good to have you both here, I think you bring another perspective to things and I see it as good. Hope you both stick around and have fun.

Nice looking light.
Looks similar to the F23

I think that suggestion was probably an inside joke.

Looks interesting. You’ll have to let us know how it is when it shows up. I think it may be the longest 1xAAA light I’ve seen, and the only clicky one too.

I don’t really know a lot about the safety of Li-Ion batteries, but the protected ones are a lot less likely to do anything bad than the non-protected ones. I’d suggest getting ones with the protection circuitry inside, since they cut off when the battery gets too high, too low, or puts out too much current. If I understand correctly, that eliminates nearly all the safety risks.

Fortunately, my partner is photosensitive too… so we’ll often set up a 2-3lm torch in candle mode and use only that for lighting as we spend an evening together. And we always remind each other about sunglasses when we go outside.

The sub-lumen levels are nice for the times I don’t want to wake my partner, or as a night light.

For interior lighting, I mostly use a variety of LED bulbs and puck lights, or sometimes just an electric bonsai tree. Like, my desk for example… I work from home and am a major computer geek, and things are pretty messy in this pic… but it shows the overall idea:

I also find it helpful to have a desk lamp clipped to the top of my closet door, pointing up, with a mirror hanging below it. Handy for doing clothes and hair, and it can be a pleasant whole-room ambient light.

Keep it going guys…I’m enjoying this…till the dam breaks, perhaps? hehehe

How would YOU know about that sack? You only joined yesterday.

BTW, welcome to BLF - home to battery and charger snobs. (The flashlight snobs are over at CPF)

you got um, amigo! This guy is nothing more than entertainment!

It’s actually the same light with different printing. I carry F23 in my pocket for about 3 years now, and works like a charm, loaded with 10440. Tailcap current is 1.2A. Plenty of light from that little bugger.

Yes, it looks the same, there are different LEDs I think.
What sort of run-time do you get out of 10440s or AAAs if you use them ?

Never really payed any attention, but I guess a bit less than 1/2 hour on high with 10440, never used AAAs. F23 has XP-E, Aurora XP-G, the rest is the same I guess.

Hmm the quote thing isn't working properly...
Nice looking light. Looks similar to the "F23":https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/141
Thanks! I was going to get the Yezl S7 incarnation but I think it's minimum order of 10? http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=996

Oh, did I mention the Tank007 TK-703 came yesterday? That’s a clicky AAA too. One of the issues I’ve noticed with it is my nail sometimes gets caught as I try to turn it on, because the switch is almost flush with the cap so it can be stood up like a candle. So I’m looking forward to the Aurora as the button sticks out. Twisty AAA’s are starting to look more attractive now. :frowning:

Your room looks lovely!! I love the bonzai too, it’s really pretty. If you think that’s messy though you should see my room. xD

I know they’re not so efficient but I’m still clinging to my halogen lamps for desk and kitchen lighting. The 5-10watt bulbs are so cheap!
