I am planning on build myself a light stick. If you don’t know what a light stick is well then it is a stick that makes light. Hehe. I want to use it for photography and it needs to be about 500mm long. I plan to pack it with leds and 18650s.
My question is, what is the highest CRI LED that is +5000k on the market?
I was planing on using the CREE MTG2 PO but it is only 75 CRI. Ideally I am looking for a +90 CRI that is 5500k.
Nichia NVSL219B R85 (90 CRI) 5015k from cutter.com.au is the highest color temperature you are going to find in 90 CRI. Those Nichias are normally binned as 4500k but cutter tested their batch & it came out as 5015k so you won’t find it anywhere else. Cutter search: 219b
Its difficult to make high CRI in high color temperature.
Mouser, Digikey, and Cutter are generally your best bet for a wide selection of Cree products that are guaranteed to be exactly what they say they are.
Helios-, you cannot link directly to the datasheet. Hot-linking the datasheet results in an error. That's why I linked to the page where you download the datasheet..
Actually you can but the simple post editor will not handle links with spaces. Corrected the link. Spaces are ok using the advanced post editor or just using html code. < a href=“link”>link text< /a>
Zero. You’ll get a Nichia LED with the appropriate physical shape, but why on earth would they tell the truth about bin & etc? Just purchase the cheapest and sell it as whatever they want.
Is Cutter not a good option for you? Helios- already explained that Cutter has the highest temp 219b’s available.
No, I have not personally had a bad experience with emitters from KD. As a matter of fact, the one time I ordered an emitter (several years ago) I believe I got exactly what I ordered. That said, I ordered a bottom-bin SSC P7 with a horrible color cast - why wouldn’t they deliver exactly what I ordered I am willing to purchase from KD, but I do not trust KD.
Cast around and see what others say. I realize that in SA you don’t have ready access to vendors like Digikey and Mouser at the same price we do in the USA, but to me it’s 100% worth the extra to know what I’m getting.
The only Chinese vendor who I’d purchase from is intl-outdoor.com. Hank has a good track record for delivering the specified tint and bin.
That one would make a great flashlight! But Mouser does not have the led yet, and Rollinstone157 is still undecided on if he should sell rare Sinkpads, like LuxeonES-Sinkpads...the build stays on the waiting list for a while :-(
I don't think that the LXZ2-5790 is real. Just because it is on a datasheet does not mean it is available. the best I can get from the LXZ2 is the LXZ2-5770, mouserdigikey
