Hi all,
I’m looking for the lightest possible headlamp that can use a single rechargeable battery with a lot of capacity.
I’m looking at what my battery options are, and the best I’ve seen are:
AA NiMH = Eneloop Pro at 1.2v * 2550mAh = 3,060
Lightest AA light = Zebra H53Fc = 1.1oz, or around 2.8oz total with battery+headband
18350 = Keepower 1200mAh or Aspire 1300mAh * 3.7v = 4400-4800
Lightest 18350 headlamp = ? Eagle X1R at 1.94oz + 0.8oz battery + around 1oz headband = 3.8oz
The Elf C1 is also around 2oz. Not sure if I can find an 18350 headlamp closer to 1oz?
What about 14500 lights? Any options that run on lower modes rather than brighter w/ a 14500?
If I recall correctly, from reading other threads these batteries 18350 = Keepower 1200mAh or Aspire 1300mAh have only about 1100mAh!
Initial marks were 1300 mAh, but those were inflated values; so, after tests they put the 1100mAh capacity on the wrapping, being that more accurate!
Other than this, I don’t have much to say in terms of suggestions.
For AA headlamps, you have the Manker E03, I don’t think it runs on 14500s, though, just AA and Ni-MH. I don’t know about weight, though…
I have a 1150mah Ampsplus 18350 that I believe is based on an Aspire cell.
My Aspire 1100mAh sometimes charge to a value near that one, but not more than 1200 and not near 1300.

At some point it's just a matter of the battery size
- zebra h31 16340 68 g.
- Zebra H51 AA 95g.
- armytek c1 18350 98g.
- Skillhunt H03 18650 122g.
- Boruit EHL0628 123g.
- Boruit R-2 red bull can 183g.
lights above have batteries included in their weight
- An aspire 18350 is 25g.
- a no top strap headband and holder 25g.
if weight is an issue get rid of the top strap loosen the strap and pull the light down over your head and wear it around your neck . Much more comfortable and you probably look like less of a whackadoodle.
Eheh, true
And only the outdated leftovers

If you want long run time, an 18650 light is best. You can get around 3500mah. This new Boruit model is my new favorite. It’s very light for an 18650 lamp. Plus it has a lot of great features and is pretty cheap as well.
If you do really have to have something lighter (if that’s your main criteria) maybe check out my attempt to list all the decent head lamps. There are weights for some of them, plus you can see models that use the battery you like. You can then look up the weight.
because i a idiot, i had not seen your list before. it is very
helpful.
thanks for the hard work.
