How do you stop battery rattle ?

I used to use paper .......

Then I started using thicker slippery high gloss junk mail... (more paper)

Now I use drinking straws slit up the side ...(plastic) and am terribly excited how well it works .

I have just one word for you .....".Plastics "

How do you handle battery rattle ???

I usually just some electrical tape, cut off a little less than the total circumference of the tube. Wrap it around my finger with sticky side out, then guide it into the tube and press it down. Can be a bit fiddly to get it nicely aligned but a layer of two stuck in from both ends usually does the trick for me.

I like the idea of the straws though, do you glue them into the tube?

I generally use cardboard. Do you have any pics of using straws? Sounds interesting.

I use cut strips of my businesses card.
Length/size depends on how bad rattle is.

Generally, I’m only in battery compartment when charging. I’m usually charging at the office (since I’m sitting there all day), on my desk. Just happen to be there in time of need.

Do you mean in lights? Mine rattle in the plastic storage cases. I have some thin foam I can use, some with adhesive backing too.

The straw just grabs the battery and after being in a light for a while just holds onto the battery.

Yeah Chloe I'm talking lights . 2AAA or 2xAA or even some single 18650 lights where the tube is over-bored .

When using an 18650 in 26500 light I use clear plastic hose the same way .Cut a bit shorter than the length of the battery and slit the hose up the length and let it grab the battery

I mean wait a sec ugh an o-ring man. Trick is to find o-rings that when stretched over the particular battery just allows it to glide by its own weight down the tube. I typically use two on a battery or if it’s for an adaptor more as necessary. I bought one of those metric o-ring kits at Harbor Freight to narrow down the best o-ring size. Then I go on Flea Bay and buy them cheaper in bulk.

I dunno it’s probably just me but I like max airflow around especially lithiums and wrapping them in stuff (basically acts like a heat retaining insulator) doesn’t do it for me.

Edit: Oh, and to really stop any rattles I just stop shaking the light. :stuck_out_tongue:

Masking tape .

Cheap , easy , and leaves no sticky residue .

heh heh

Post-it notes, cut to size.

I have never noticed battery rattle, but I know what I would use...

Drafting tape!

(It doesn't make a mess like masking tape.) 8)

Same thing I do, electrical tape inside the flashlight, have also used electrical tape on the batteries but that can interfere with placing the battery in the charger with some chargers.
