Hi, Currently I only have AA lights, but really want to get into 18650.
So Im looking at the P60 or SureFire clones…But I dont really know how they even are supposed to function, as stupid as that sounds.
Is the classic or most popular configuration:
1- Only momentary on via fwd clicky
2- For constant on you tighten the bezel
?
If wanted to get a P60 clone Id probably get an LP2 by solarforce. (Is this still a good choice?)
So how does that work when you use a dropin to change modes - what do most people get?
If constant on is twist and momentary is fwd click then how can you change modes, etc?
If I remember correctly, the original Surefire switch is momentary, no clicky. Just a spring and a contact plate. For constant on, you screw the switch cap all the way down. As far as mode changing goes, that depends entirely on the used drop in…
Solarforce sold such a switch at one point, but I think it is sold out. They now have the standard forward and reverse clicky switches you are already used to. Enjoy their lights, they are great!
Surefire Z41 Tactical tail cap is the one your asking about. The Z59 is the Tactical/momentary forward clicky. The Z49 is the most sought after and expensive for collectors or serious enthusiasts. The XM07 is the weapon light, pressure pad connection with a back up tactical clicky. All are 7/8-20 SAE threads.
