How Hot are You?

How about you?
It looks like it’s going to be over 100F for at least 3+ weeks here - Maybe longer!
Many days 105+.
It’s hit 115F here before.
Anyone tells you that you can’t tell the difference between 108 and 115 lies.

But!!!
The new R18 garage doors and the Mini-split AC keeps the garage temp at 80, and never ramps up to anyway near 100% capacity. This also helps the house AC keep up with the temp load.
Before the insulated doors, a 100F outside temp would heat the garage to 112!. The doors are in direct afternoon sun.

For those who keep lights, phones, batts, laptops, Etc. in cars.
Here’s a little test I did a few years ago. Look how fast the temp goes down when I drive home and park in the shaded car port.
All the Best,
Jeff

It gets pretty hot here in the desert, but if the dewpoint is below about 55, then we can run the swamp cooler and it’s not so bad outside.
If the dewpoint is above about 55, we have to run the air conditioner, and it’s pretty miserable outside–plus our electricity bill goes sky high.
A few days out of the year are 120 F or higher.
We have a bunch of days out of the year that are 110 F or higher. :+1:

The smoke from the fires blocks out the sun so it’s a nice 76°F here. Silver lining

71F during day, now 62. Outside.
In case of heat I have AC installed in house.

RC,
I’ve often thought a swamp cooler for the attic and Freon for the inside would save a huge amount of AC compressor time.
Suspect a building inspector would have a conniption.
Got a window swamp cooler on wheels on the back porch. Prefect for BBQ evenings.
All the Best,
Jeff

Was in Dallas the this week. Hail nearby every night.
Some softball sized. Looked like superman’s fortress of solitude falling from the sky!

That is some crazy heat. It’s been a cool June here.

Not hot. 73 F.
Probably the high for today.
19% humidity
Forecast low of 55 F.

7300 foot elevation helps

Here in the Andes mountains near 1000m up and Chilean winter, things are surprisingly nice: the coldest it gets 12C in the early morning and the hottest is 23C. Humidity going from 25 to 30%. Turning on the furnace for a half-hour after waking up makes it perfect.

In Baton Rouge yesterday afternoon, My bluetooth thermometer read 101 — Today a little more Southeast in Mandeville the thermometer read 98.6 ---- If you need to get it done outside, you better start early

I’m a RETIRED frame carpenter and very Glad to be :grinning:

My hat’s off to you. Either freezing your butt off or sweating your b@#$s off. Thankless job.

:+1:t2: No different than any other Trade Skill ---- I tell people all the time that sit in the sun for ball games or go to the beach — Obviously you didn’t work in the Heat

I did my share of grunt in the elements but summers around here only last a short while and tried to work inside in the winter.
