Recently I have found out that very sharp or thin tips are not working well, as the heat can hardly concentrated at the tip and it takes a longer time to melt the solder. I tried with sharp tip before and I ended up with messy soldering work.
What Tom E and RMM suggested to me is using the wedged tip. I tried that last week in stacking chips and it really works good for me.
