How Many Places Have You Called Home?

Just curious. I may not be the typical US resident.

Including the home I grew up in, I have called 6 places home. I phrase it that way as for a year in the 1970’s I called home a Bedford Dormobile with no fixed address. We moved all over Europe, 15,000 miles in that year.

Of course, one’s age should be considered. At age 75 that makes my home/age ratio of 75/6 = 12.5. We will be moving back to a place where we already lived years ago; the same house. So the ratio will sort of change, or does it?

7 over 60 years.

I really don’t have any idea, even long and serious thought on that question wouldn’t produce an accurate answer for me.

60/12 although, 4/12 were in college. Does that count?

5 places in 41 years

9 places in 44 years, started in Wisconsin and kept moving west until I hit California. :sunglasses:

Let's see...

Two not so close cities in Riverside County (Southern California.)

Two nearby cities in Tulare County (Central California.)

Provo, Utah.

San Jose, California.

So that's 6 different cities in 45 years.

Y/P = 10. Seems maybe I am about average.

Lisse, 18 years
Amsterdam Olympiaplein, 1 year
Amsterdam Hoogte Kadijk, 5 years
Amsterdam Javaplein, 17 years (one year during this period was spent in Leicester, England, that became almost home but not quite)
Amsterdam Waaigat, 4 years
Amsterdam *plein, 10 years

So that is 6 places in 55 years, 37 years were spent in Amsterdam.

Wow, you nomads…

Place 1 up ’til I was ~5yo, then place 2 for the 114yrs since.

I just figured this place would collapse on me and they’d have to dig my corpse out of the rubble.

My dad worked for the DoJ
4 places in 25 yr.
Last part of college and first jobs
3 places in 7 yr.
Met the missus
3 places in 40 yr.

Not counting a “practical” study year with internships that required living in (5) rented rooms and B&B’s.

Only 4 not counting the college years.

2, only a few miles apart.

4 / 60 yrs —— I still own #2 though it’s my camp now — I bought the property in the woods across the lake from New Orleans 43 yrs ago — now it’s in a subdivision — Go figure

Eight years in New Orleans (1978 - 1986)
Nearly 20 years in Jakarta (1993 - 2012)
Ten years and counting in Singapore (2012 — present)
Bangkok is my birthplace.

5- but the definition of home is probably different for almost everyone, while the feeling is probably very similar.
