How much would you pay?

I was looking through a tool catalogue and came across this page of lights. My first reaction was “oooh, lights…!!” But then I saw the prices and bloody near fell outta my chair. There is a 26650 light listed for AU$300 and none of the lights appear to name the type of led. I really feel sorry for anyone who buys these.
Sorry for the odd angle pic, I was trying to keep the glossy reflection to a minimum.

WOW!!! The prices in that catalog are unreal :open_mouth:

Yep my mate bought a Snapon work light it was really expensive and nothing special.

Bunnings is starting to stock a better range of torches now. Like 5 years to late lol.

Most tools shops dont sell a wide variety of torches when i was looking. Sydneytools has a very small range and same with totaltools.

BCF is over priced rubbish lol You really need to go to a hunting store.

Are those all Aussie Surefires, lol? That’s horrible!!

Is there a pay by installment option?

I have a SF A2 and M2 that were around that much, US$

Lol, I can’t see the screw that bounced under bench because my torch got repo’d

I don’t see the problem, the torches are for home buyers. Once you have spent over $1M on a crappy house that is really worth maybe $350K those lights seem like a bargain. :weary:

Just led lensers or coast lights- with a slightly different external design.

Fits right in with the cost of cells :rage:

They are not cheap Chinese cells cos they are being sold by rip off locals :disappointed:

This is the VERY reason why we need BLF :money_mouth_face: :money_mouth_face:

When i go for grocery at a large general store (we call them ‘supermarket’ over here) i often have a look at what lights they offer in the ‘electricity and tools’ department and i’m amazed at the crap they sell for 20, 30 euros (and more if you go for a Maglite). No Li-Ion for sure, sub par lumens, plastic body and lens, bluish old school emitters when not incandescent… It’s all like ten years old, outdated and way over priced.

However, over the past three years, it seems it is getting a bit better… but we are a long way from what we are used to here on BLF. One particular issue is the ‘bare’ Li-Ion cells are not yet available to the general public unless they are inside a pack with a dedicated charger. The only places where you can find some are the ecig shops.

That is so sad

Do people actually buy these outdated POS’s for those insane prices?

But they have Hyperfocus™! That normally costs extra you know… :money_mouth_face: :money_mouth_face: :money_mouth_face:

Ok that explains it. I had no idea about the Hyperfocus thing. Silly me! lol!

We have a flashlight dedicated store in my province, they sell Olight, Fenix, Jetbeam and whatnot for over double and sometimes triple the price of chinese websites. I see its not an isolated phenomenon :person_facepalming:

One tool store here carries Streamlight- the rest sell crap. Most of the world is still in the dark regards flashlights so I preach the Gospel of BLF at every opportunity

Phil

Well… it is my impression that this is the case for almost everything… Whatever the chinese sell for $1 you’ll probably pay $2 or $3 in a store near you. Same for clothing, tools… you name it.

Not long ago i had to buy some wall mounted AC plugs - it’s essentially a little plastic box with two holes for the plug. It is made of three plastic pieces that snap together like lego, with two tiny bits of brass for the contacts, not even a screw (the wires get snapped in). Just looking at it you can tell it does not cost more then $1.50 if you buy them bulk (and maybe less), but can you believe they sell for $8?!
