“Efficiently” is the key word. If I only needed to do this once, I’d put the sandpaper on the workbench and get to work sanding. But I need to do it to 10+ MCPCBs and at that point it is going to take a lot of time and cause a lot of finger cramping.
(This is because I can’t find a thin (less than 1.0mm thick) DTC MCPCB. If you know of one please tell me.)
I do not have any machine tools such as a mill that could remove material quickly with a cutter. I do have a drill press, random orbital sander, and lots of hand tools.
I’ve thought of a couple possible ways, but kind of want to hear what you all think before I make a suggestion that might pigeon-hole everyone’s creativity.
I have tried a few methods, and it is always a lot of careful work.
What worked for Noctigons was soldering an omega-shaped piece of thick copper wire onto the two ledwire-pads and use that as grip for your pliers, you can then use the orbital sander but it needs a lot of cooling (glass of water), and there is the risk of stripping the brass circuitry off the board. But don’t do this with the Kaidomain boards for the brass circuitry will certainly come off!
I hope for you that someone comes up with a genius trick. I’m listening!
