How to ID fake "insert brand here" flashlights?

Having seen a few things about fake brand name lights, and a recent purchase of my own I am wondering about(Trustfire tr-3t6), I thought this may be a topic to discuss.

Any pointers for any brand, throw in whatever you know of.

Unconfirmed, but I have read that Trustfire name and logo should be etched in the light. If its painted on its a fake?
Can anyone confirm this?

Fake Surefire lights??

Others??

Thanks,
Jim

any “whateverfire” is as good as fake unless purchased at the “official” dealer site of the brand.
not sure it matters much there either.
as for surefire yes fakes exist. but the copycats can clone any aspect of a product but quality and performance.

Best option for any suspected clone is type it in the search box. I have bought the same torch (clone) as you, I half expected it to be a clone anyway just wanted to play around with it. Typing it into the search brought up a couple of threads describing the original and clone differences, and problems you may encounter. Mine for instance i found the batteries are loose fit ‘side to side’ which caused the torch to flicker when moved, a little tape wrapped round the batteries solved that one, more problems expected…
