How to mod this Crelant V6CS driver for more juice?

This driver is in a Crelant V6CS:

Is that R056 the sense resistor?

Looks like R056 isn't even a sense resistor, but just a current limiting resistor. If it isn't a buck driver, that's what I'd bet on.

Would it help to add another resistor on top of that one?

Yes it would. However, I'd probably just bridge it in typical BLF style.

What is the stock current and what are the markings on the two little SOT-23 FET’s? It could potentially be at its max current already, I’m betting those little baby FET’s arnt rated very high at all, even really good SOT-23 package FET’s will only do ~4A max.

Well, copper wire across R056 did not seem to do anything at all.

I've already copper braided both driver and tail cap springs (first thing I do before I check anything). Tail cap amps with a Samsung 25R is 3.10 amps on my DMM. I've also reflowed the XM-L2 onto a sinkpad 2 and dedomed it.

The markings on the two little critters above R056 are 'D00DK'.

I would really like to push this Crelant V6CS but don't want to lose the stepless ramping that is built in with this driver that comes with the side switch.

Really appreciate the help.

I have modded a few of these and there isn’t a whole lot you can do with them other than the spring mods and heavy wire. Great lights though.

A quick google srearch for both DOODK and D[zerozero]DK didn’t return any results. Is there any other info on them, like a symbol or mfg’s mark of any sort?

I’d say there isn’t much to loose, go ahead and swap in a few really low resistance FET’s like the IRLM2505 used on the 10/12/15dd baby FET drivers. They’re <$1.25 each so even if they don’t help they won’t cost you much.

I have less of them than I do tiny10’s alone otherwise I’d just give to a couple cause now I’m curious, my SOIC8 FET’s I mentioned for that SR51 driver showed up today so I’m gonna try it out [swapping the FET and leaving the stock resistor values] just to see if it works there even tho I already pulled the whole thing out for a 17dd a few days ago.

Actually I do have a few dozen random SOT-23 FET’s pulled off stuff, if you want to just randomly start swapping them out and testing, it’d only cost me a stamp to mail them so if you’ll give that a shot I’ll send you all of them for free of course.

Not sure where the inductor is because this should be a buck driver. The input voltage allows for 2x CR123’s.

I'm out camping with the grandkids this week so I'll try out your spare stuff to see what it does.

I'm ready to try anything when I get back next week and let ya'll know the results.

PM sent to you CK.

Does anyone can help me. I put two 18350 batteries in Crelant V6CS referring to withstand 8.5 volts, but it turned out not to be, but only 6 volts. Is it possible to fix the driver or its burned forever ?? There is picture of this driver

hey mate did you end up fixing your v6cs because the same thing happen to mine and i cant even get it apart?
