I have a 17mm driver that I’m using on an LED project that isn’t a regular flashlight build and I want to mount/heatsink the driver.
I’m thinking I can cut a 15-16mm hole in some aluminium then solder the driver by the outer ring?
Or mount it via the centre pad onto some alu or copper stock?
Maybe get a cheap host with a 17mm driver and salvage some parts? What do you guys think?
1. Use lots of thermal glue to fill some place and put driver inside Or 2. Use some pill from flashlight (most blf members have lots of spare pills that they dont need anymore) Linear drivers dont require good cooling, dont worry about this.
Run a test with the components connected on the bench and see what happens, how much heat there is?
Soldering to aluminum isn’t easy. Maybe use brass stock.
