How to polish your Titanium lights!?

Hey guys and gals..

just asking what you guys use to polish your titanium lights.

and how.

I used a dremel with a felt wheel, and some cheap polishing stuff, but it doesnt come out very even.. I can see "whipes" and "lines"..

any tips?

I do know felt wheel does a perfect job on copper, not tried Ti yet. same question, any tips?

BTY, I read about your post of Ti anodizing,I'm going to try it soon.

Now just used a cloth, and put some of the polish stuff on it, and wiped the light over the cloth that was laying on a flat surface.. at least it helped a bit...

actually not too bad!

just seeing what others use. (I dont have a way to attach the body to a drill, and spin it around, as some people do)

try cleaning the wipes and lines with paper napkin and zippo fluid?

the wipes could be stubborn oil from the polish paste

I don’t bother trying to clean them. I just prefer the patina to develop with time.

I just like them shiny ;)

dont have zippo fluid. But its still not looking too bad..

any more tips? great to hear some the different methods people are using.

I haven’t tried this but it should work as long as the light is not too big:

Get a slightly tapered cork or rubber bung, drill a hole through it and insert a long thin bolt (bolt head at thin end of cork) and secure with a nut&washer. Stick the end of the bold in the drill chuck then push the flashlight body over the cork. Use a low drill speed at first to make sure it’s not going to fly off.

Thanks for the idea.. My drill can only use bits with those hexagon shapes, not the one that you can screw or unscrew.

this is the one I have. But thanks for sharing, as it might help other people out..

any pictures?

You can get a chuck that has a hex shank like this.

the polishing kit can take brushed finish stainless to a true mirror finish easily, the harder the material, the finer you want to go
