I bought one of the typical single Xm-l bike lights (Magicshine 808 clone) but can't see how to remove the pill. It's loose but won't unscew (would likely spin & rip wires anyway). Doesn't seem to use a retaining ring either. Does the screw attaching the bottom mount act as a set screw holding the pill in place? Anyone have experience with these?
normally you have to remove the head with the lens, and then push the cable where it enters the body.
then the holder with driver and reflector forwards
Ah, thanks! I see now the bottom bracket is pinching the wiring keeping it from coming forward. Don't have time to pull that off right now, got to get rear brakes done on my car.
This reflector is too small for the body too. Looks like they just threw one in that was "close enough". I also requested an O.P. reflector as shown in the EBay listing but I still got an SMO. Gonna take some measurements and see if there's a better fitting reflector.
actually I’m able to do resistor mod on one of them single bike light, depending on the light… usually you can open from the back of the light without the need to remove the reflector
I was wrong about the reflector being undersized. The reflector sits down into the housing perfectly, but when you hold it against the glass it appears way undersized. Here are some pics (here you go WarHawk-AVG):
That's the glow-in-the-dark o-ring you see beside the reflector to the right side in the above pic.
I ordered the light here and as seen in the listing, it's an O.P. reflector. I was surprised how small this light really is! I have another bike light coming which appears to use 2 cells in parallel.
Thanks whokilledJR. Forgot about ActionLED having the reflectors. I wish they would list dimensions on their reflectors/lenses; I might have a use for their MJ-880 wide angle lenses.
