HP battery pack pull

First battery pack pull and have the blood drawn from a stab wound to prove entry into the group
It returned 6x Samsung ICR 18650-22E
I can work out they’re 2200maH, yet no idea whether they’re decent, average or should be relabelled samfire/recycled.
A lot of that naturally will depend upon what charge they’re holding and after being charged.

Feel free to drop me whatever advise you’ve got to share.

Clean and redress the wound twice a day.

The cells are unprotected, and if they test out decent, you could put 3 of them in one of these to make a portable power supply.

If it's a new OEM pack they are genuine Samsung.

What did you stab yourself with?

Was that a old unused pack or an old used pack? Thanks to several members I bought the older, overstock *unused *packs with near perfect results.

Getting the glued packs open can result in screw driver stab wounds. That hurts so would suggest avoiding self ’stabalation”.

While you heal you can look up the date codes and if a hobby charger is handy, you could check capacity or stopwatch against a known capacity for runtime.

While my hand, arm puncture, burn and crush wounds heal, I await another pack in the mail

Ouch ! Wear gloves my friend !

I came across one used Dell K450N pack (owner said it couldn’t charge), cracked open also consists of 6x light green Samsung ICR18650-22F

Deburred the contacts, I test each cells with hobby charger, only two cells within 14xx-16xxmAh discharge at 1A to 3V

I keep the two while the other four only have 1000mAh range and so they’re going to the bin.

Seriously, I don’t understand not wearing gloves!

LOL,
You know, it is REALLY ironic. The reason I am online right now is because I am taking a break from cleaning up the garage. I was out there and got a sliver after moving a board. I sometimes wear gloves, but not that time. I just finished removing the sliver and thought I would check into BLF before I went back out. You can be sure I’m going to wear gloves this time!

Self stabalation.

Snap ring (spreading) pliers are by far the best advice I’ve seen and tried. Passing it forward.

PS - one can tape the tips if extra cautious but I found it very easy to keep the tips at the edge.

Seriously! LOL and not the metal mesh types. Also no metal prying tool “anything” if you want to be your own safety police. You just might find out how much energy is stored in the old packs depending on what you short?

I found my son’s plastic screwdriver set. Those and a heat gun has conquered the last four packs. He’s not getting them back until he replaces my hex sets from his paintball addiction!

I’ve found that channel locks (sometimes referred to as water pump pliers) are the easiest way for me to crack open packs. I find gloves to be annoying when working on smaller things and so far I’ve never bled from a laptop pack, but a welded tab on a camera pack got me a few days ago.
Welcome to group!

Known as multi-grips down under
Thank you.

They will not prevent a stab wound, only minimise it.
They make handling cumbersome.

Old used that no longer was holding decent charge.
Saw pic’s/heard of others self stabulation, so actually tried to avoid it by exercising caution, yet well, view my username

Date codes ?

Yet to get a hobby charger.
Will visit my electrical engineer grandfather and get him to test them with his multimeter first to see what voltage they’ve got, then charge in an i4(two in a channel to half the charge rate).

What did you do for those wounds ?

Genuine HP pack, so genuine cells.
A Stanley flat tip screwdriver.

Cleaned, disinfected and dressed it at the time, then went back to trying to cut off my hand
Was planning to use them as cheap backup’s for the pana’s I’m awaiting.

Nope, won’t do. Wound requires amputation… J) Got chainsaw?

I can borrow one, yet it’s such an inefficient weapon to cut through flesh. (Keeps clogging up)

3.6v for all 6 of them after 3-6 months w/o a charge
Will charge them all up and see what run-times are like

I know the pictures of my injury that I posted were graphic, and perhaps a little “over the top.” I also realize that emotionally, it is easy, after having viewed them, for many of you to place the blame on the most likely of suspects. Namely the screwdriver. I too initially blamed the screw driver, but that was because I was impaired at the time. Trauma and the loss of blood probably put me into a state of shock. Even so, it was fortunate that I had the presence of mind to document the scene.
Now that I have recovered somewhat , I have decided to revisit the forensic evidence. My conclusions are startling, to say the least.

First I present you exhibit “A”, the original laptop battery pack.

Now Exibit “B”,the opened pack. Also notice the 3 suspects still at the scene. The screw driver, the stiff blade putty knife and the hammer.

Also notice present, is the perpetrator of the act, my left hand. Notice that there is an absence of blood! So the reviewed evidence declares the screw driver, putty knife and hammer innocent!
Now onto exhibit “C”

First sign of blood. Notice a new suspect on the scene. A pair of diagonal cutters. This suspect is known to travel the world, inflicting injuries, some serious, and is known to go by various aliases, depending on the country it happens to be,
America - “Dikes”, short for “DIagonal CutterS” (DICS)
Ireland and the United Kingdom - “Snips”
Australia and Canada - “Side Cutters”
He also is known to go by his street name, simply “wire cutters”
It would be easy to blame such a well traveled and dangerous character for the deed, but no, he is not guilty either. Notice no blood on him linking him to the deed.
The only conclusion we can draw from the submitted evidence is that the culprit of this crime is the welded tabs on the cells themselves. Be careful of that guy, he’s a slasher and won’t think twice before he attacks.

You can say that again. It was awful watching that poor, little, innocent battery pack being savagely torn apart by that bloody beast.

Just ordered the one with the Q5, thanks!!
