HP 'Enviro' laptop pulls- are these normal 18650 Li-ion's and will they perform the same/better/worse in flashlights

Have opened a few of these now, can’t really seem to find too much info on how they differ, (apparently charge faster and hold charge longer??) and I’m not a battery chemistry pro.

So does anyone know why these are ‘different’ and if they are better or worse for flashlight use?

Thats what I thought, but they don’t have any markings on them at all, there is a very faint batch code visible through the wrapper but it doesn’t look anything like any Sanyos I have. Also the case is labeled ‘Cell origin Taiwan’, most Sanyos are from somewhere different (I think).

You can read on the side of the battery the model number and it should say sanyo ..feel the cell it should feel almost like it's been roughed up a llittle .if you look very closely you'll see it's a model number stamped into the plastic covering of the cell

There’s definately no stamped markings, or printed, on the cells, only what looks like a batch under the wrapper, the cell wrapping is a different material to all the Sanyos I have with a different join seam also.

The green ones in the above pic are ‘Enviro’ and the same

Do you know what I'm talking about with regards to the sanyos ... they all have it and it's not obvious at all ..like i said you can feel the letters on the side of the cell .It would easily be mistaken as glue or just being roughed up .

i'm assuming you have found sanyos in some of the packs you've been tearing apart .. Sanyos are obviously japanese and assemby might be elsewhere but origin of the cell is Japan

I had some of those light blue ones, IIRC their nominal capacity was 2200. I will try to find the datasheet for you later today.

Thanks scaru, what got me intrigued was the HP blurb states that these more expensive cells will hold full charge up to 3 years or something and charge up faster compared to standard cells, could be marketing hype though
