HR Knives

Just wanted to share my good experience with HR Knives ( www.hrknives.com ).
I found almost no reference to them on any forums, I found them by a Google search when I looked for a place to get a CKC Tat Cutter from at a reasonable price.

Besides having a very large selection of knives they have other outdoor related equipment and a small selection of flashlights.

Their prices are very competitive, especially for international customers where shipping from the US is quite expensive. I bought CKC Tat Cutter, Spyderco Bug, Gerber pocket sharpener and Buck diamond pocket sharpener all for 25$ and shipping to Israel was 15$. This was the cheapest I could get for these items, from other stores it would be at least 50% more, or almost 20$ for any single item order.
I think their USA and Canada shipping costs are also very low, but I didn’t check it thoroughly. (from what I’ve seen - US shipping is about 2.50$ first class, Canada is about 5:money_mouth_face:

When I made my order, the shipping cost was 1.25$, but they contacted me via email the next day and said that they don’t usually ship outside the US and that their shipping cost calculator doesn’t calculate the price correctly, so shipping would be 20$. I said that’s too much and they recalculated to 15$ which seemed reasonable enough for me. They also said it’s the lowest they can offer even if I ordered only one item from them.

They respond quite fast to emails, and are polite and to the point.
Also, they support both credit cards and PayPal. I don’t know if they support credit cards for international customers, I believe they do, but I paid with PayPal so I can’t know for sure.

They sent the package promptly after I completed the shipping cost, and it arrived within 6 days, everything in excellent condition.
The Tat Cutter and the Spyderco Bug are superb, really I didn’t imagine they would be so good and nice and pretty and the Bug is tiny!!

So in short - I think HR Knives is a very good place to buy from, especially for international buyers.

Thanks for sharing Haggai!

Just wanted to update that they now have a shipping cost calculator for all their shipping destinations, which is based on weight (maybe volume also?), so you can know the shipping cost before you order and it is included in the bill so no subsequent payments are needed.

I made a few more purchases from them and everything was excellent.

Oops…… i just checked (they have some interesting prices) with a 2 bucks item…… shipping cost of 40 USD!!! :frowning:

huh, I just checked something too, they now offer only priority mail for international shipping… :frowning: Probably because of the recent mess with the USPS prices and shipping methods.
Just for reference, the shipping cost for my last order (I would guess a little more than 500g including packaging) a few weeks ago was about 17$.

I’ll contact them, maybe they can sort something out.

So, they answered that they have a problem with the shipping calculator because of the recent changes to the USPS prices.
They expect it to be resolved within a few days, maybe even today.
But the new prices would be higher than before (obviously).

I just hope they wouldn’t be too high…

Any promo codes??

Not that I know of, but their prices are usually already lower than the competition (at least according to what I find through thefind.com).

Thank you very much, Haggai. It might be worth if it’s around that price, though customs would get its part , too….

$43 shipping for a $35 Spydie Tenacious…. Lets hope they fix that as many other US sellers charge $9-11 shipping…

5% off with promo code: newbie

Good to know, thanks

John from HRKnives contacted me, he said that the issue with shipping cost calculation is resolved now.
I checked it and the minimum international shipment (of small items) is 11.55$. With a few more items it rises to about 15$-20$, so back to normal.

John also said that if anyone has any issues with shipping or any other issue they can contact him directly at john@hrknives.com .
He also responds very fast to the “contact us” form at the website.

  1. Thanks!
