I had a bit of a panic moment earlier today. I got my stuff from FancyFlashLights; a XiaoZhi and a Balder SE1 yesterday.
What I just remembered today was the shipment included four XP-G2 emitters on 16mm stars. And today is garbage day!
In a panic I run outside to find an empty garbage bin... they already came and went. Darn.
Back in the garage, I noticed that I forgot a bag... the bag from my office, full of envelopes. Digging around frantically, I find the emitters in a baggie inside the yellow envelope. Whew!
That's the second time a tiny item has almost slipped away. I had some O-rings fall out of a bag and could not be found for days. They were eventually found before being swept away.
So, anyone else have a close call or actually throw out something they forgot was in the package?
I almost brunt a guitar on my fire pit last fall. I get my guitars in large boxes that hold eight guitars, each inside their own individual boxes. Then tons of Christmas paper is used as stuffing around the guitar boxes inside the one big box. So I had about 30 or 40 of these boxes filled with Christmas paper piling up in the back of my garage/warehouse and I was hauling them out back and tossing them on a big bonfire. As I was about to toss one of them on the fire I noticed that it felt heavier than the others. So I dug through the Christmas paper and sure enough towards the bottom of the box and still in it’s box was a brand new “used” Yamaha electric guitar. I brought it in plugged it in and tuned it up and it had a very nice neck and body. I sold out of these a while back so instead of listing it for sale as a one off I kept it and tossed in some spare parts I had laying around. super hot pickups and pots, a nicer bridge, along with some better tuning pegs, now it’s a sleeper. It doesn’t look like much but it actually screams and plays nicer than some five hundred dollar guitars.
I had a Yamaha in my younger years, real nice guitar. Now I just have a Fender Strat that never gets played… I keep telling myself to learn how to play again. Some day.
