Hey guys,

Earlier today I was browsing Banggood’s flashlight section, when I discovered this intriguing new light and decided to order it right away - Roxane X6 XPL HI

For what it promises at that price, it seems like a bargain - XPL HI 4500K LED, USB-C charging, quality springs, included 4000mAh 26650 Battery and usb cable…

Am I missing something here? Did a made a mistake?

Modes 4 modes (High- medium - low - energy saving)
Lumens 1850lm, 1239lm, 629lm, 63lm

No Blinky modes!
But energy saving mode is way too high.

Emitter lumens maybe. I doubt a single XPL hi can do 1800+ out-the-front.

If we take the 1239lm number, stated as “middle” mode brightness and make a logical assumption that this is most probably its real max output, then the stated 106,000CD number seems plausible. In best case scenario, I hope it will perform similarly to the C8-type variants, but with built-in USB-C charging.

Sooo, today I received the flashlight and here are my observations…

First of all, I got the CW and not the NW I actually ordered, which was quite frustrating, but not very surprising. The overall look, fit and finish is decent. The light weights 205g without battery. Though the spring at the head is copper alloy as promised, the one at the tailcap is not, it is strongly ferromagnetic. The threads on the parts are so so and needed a good cleaning and lubrication.

Reflector dimensions - 40mm diameter and 35mm deep. The hotspot it produces is a little bit tighter and more defined, than that from a Convoy C8+ for example. The led is soldered on a copper mcpcb star board and there is generous amount of thermal compound used.

Charging works fine, it charges at ~0.8A. Charging LED indicator has a very small and deep hole and it’s very hard to see from different angles. The UI and the mode spacing are not good, you need to hold the button for ON/OFF, double click goes to strobe and if you click again it goes to SOS. There is no PWM on any of the modes.

With 48G battery inside, the max current draw I measured at the tailcap is ~2.9Amps.

The 26650 that it comes with is just ok. Product’s page states that it should be 4000mAh, but there is no rating or stated capacity anywhere on the shrink-wrap. I’m testing it at moment with my OPUS and at the time of posting it is showing 3.55V and 3550mAh capacity(discharging at 1A). UPDATE - Final capacity - 4834mAh at 1A discharge.

In conclusion, it’s not a terrible or unusable flashlight, but even at that “promo” price I picked it up, it’s just not worth it.
