I can’t find my PA-1, I thought maybe a sold it a few back but I still have all the packaging so I would have included that if I sold it. I have only sold a couple of lights ever so I would have remembered that.
I am sure it is around the house unless someone took it from inside my home. There is a teenage girl of my brother’s who has come over and stole knives and cash before when I had a BBQ or get together so that is possible. I think this time, it is just misplaced.
Give me some good hiding spots you have found stuff before. I have checked the couch and car. Looked under the bed and in my backpack. It’s somewhere but I can’t remember.
Pockets? fridge? (you never know) washing machine?
I actually thought I had lost my Klarus P2A a few months ago, and was pretty convinced it was gone, until I found it in a bag…
nobody else would have put it there besides my 2-year old.
so, just double check any bag that you (un)regularly use.
I loose my glasses constantly. Did you look on the work bench, bathroom, dresser, desk, junk drawer, pockets? Did you loan it out to somebody that never brought it back? Do you have pets that may have knocked it onto the floor and it rolled under bed, etc.?
Laptop bag maybe? Winter coat pockets? Did you check under and beside your car seats? Mine eat stuff all the time. I’m still looking for a nice Benchmade folder and a Coast HP7 that might just turn up when I least expect. Good luck.
Of course, things are always in the last place you look, so try there first
under car seats, with the dirty laundry or clean laundry, under or sides of sofa cushions, under night stand / bed, in a kitchen drawer, pantry, under computer desk, near the telephone, Tv, fridge or toilet to name a few places where I have found misplaced stuff.
or offer a small reward and let others help you find it
Yeah, that’s in the back of my mind. She took my Spyderco Military and $60 out of my wallet last time she was over. Makes me mad because I know she probably gave it to one of her friends and didn’t know it was worth over $100. She has a good eye for quality. She takes the good stuff and leaves the lesser items. I had a few knives laying around and she took the best one.
I checked my coat pockets but no joy. She never took a light before but she has stolen from other members of the family and friends before so I can’t rule that out. I used to work loss prevention and teenage girls are by far the biggest thieves there are. When a couple of white 15 year old girls came in, you knew the chance of them stealing was sky high. Most are fairly well to do and not poor. They steal because they get a rush out of it and know mommy will make it right if they get caught.
Backpacks are definitely the place to check. One time I had lost a knife and the TSA found it when I was going through security. Thankfully they were nice and let me mail it to myself.
Sorry, but no one else suggested it, I really hope it has not been stolen and is just tucked on a shelf in the basement or something like that.
Do you actually remember when and where you used it last? Are there small children about that may have put it in a vase/plant pot/unlikely place? Has your niece even been near since you realised it was missing?
I once found a Swiss Army Knife a year after I thought I’d lost it - amongst the tent pegs and poles I’d used the previous season. Still don’t know why I put it there, but if you use it camping, check that kit.
The most unnerving part is trying to figure out whether it had just been misplaced or might have actually been stolen.
My first EZ-AA got stolen at work, last summer - someone must have been good at picking pockets. Ever since, I think of the worst things when I cannot find a torch.
Sucks when you have to suspect of a family member, maybe if you ask nicely in a very casual way you might get some info, but if she is innocent you will feel even worse, does your brother know about the previous incident?
Would suck even more if said suspect would have been your (now ex-) fiancée. Man, I DO miss my signed (!) Hendrix records!
At least she did not touch my (signed!) Dick Dale records. Surely wasn’t interested in torches either, luckily; she gave away the Terralux-TLE (Cree Xr-E R2) modded, titanium-ano Mini-M@glite I gave to her Christmas a few years ago.
I always find stuff in my jacket pockets. I recently lost my beloved Thrunite Ti i got with the $5 promo. Sad thing is i know where i lost it but when I realized it was gone someone already found it and took it so i can feel your pain.
One thing I can guarantee is that if you do find it it will be in the last place you look.
i lost my surefire e2 defender for almost a year i found it on the top shelf in the closet. it had gotten pushed to the back behind a bag. i found it when i was moving and that made it one of the happiest times of my life!! well almost
