I carry both a 4Sevens Preon ReVO and a ThruNite T10 as part of my EDC kit. Until recently I never carried a spare AAA battery. I decided to make a battery carrier with a twist: it doubles as an adapter to allow me to use AAA batteries in a light that takes one AA, like my T10 does. The cap that screws on to secure the AAA battery screws onto the back side to lengthen it to make it the same length as an AA battery.
Grr, I keep forgetting that UBB code doesn't work here.
Vert nice work, wish I had that kind of time, talnet, and equipment. But you have me curious why you would carry a big adapter plus the AAA battery for a spare, instead of just carrying a spare AA? call me anal...
That would sort of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?
Sorry, I don't have a lawn to mow. I had it paved over. Then again, if I had a lawn I wouldn't have time to do flashlight mods.
Good question. I carry the spares in a pocket along with tools, keys, etc. Things that could potentially damage my Duraloops and Eneloops. If I carried alkaline primaries then it wouldn't be a big deal. That reminds me, I need a case for the spare AA cells that I carry, too. This time, it'll be made from acrylic.
If the inside of the light is bare metal and it uses a tail clicky then, yes, it would bypass the switch. With a twisty or anodized host with a clicky that won't be a problem until you wear through the anodizing.
Well, not as I envisioned it. Open ended cap on the bottom and threads are protected while battery is stowed. Swap caps and the length is increased and the battery held in place by the open ended cap (shoulder would obviously need to be lower than the + tip).
Perhaps it's not doable, but the goal wasn't to defeat the purpose . .
