I reside 88 miles away from one of the world's four 'Dark Sky Communities'.........................

I don’t think they’d appreciate 300 torchaholics showing up at their doorstep one nite for a Lumen Lollapalooza either. :open_mouth:

Then again there doesn’t seem to be a law against flashlight mayhem so if there’s anywhere to do mega-beamshots this would be it.

And look at this amazing shot of Flagstaff at night. :open_mouth:

And yes Rufusduck, in neighborly cooperation with our Borregoians I magnanimously turn off my .03 lumen Ti whenever possible.

And watt the heck, here’s a nice Christmasy scene from The Astronomy Pic of the Day on that above website……ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh isn’t that sweet? 8)

Btw, I think being an astronomer on Kitt Peak Observatory would be one b*tchin’ job.

With you so close, does it still qualify?

I live about 50 miles north of Chicago. There is no such thing as dark around here. Such a foolish waste of energy.

I love going camping in the lake district over here, you stop in the valleys it goes daylight - pitch black. 8) even better is the RAF flies through the valleys, if you take the time to climb the mountains, you can sometimes look down on the fighters blasting through, very very cool. 8)
