I got three XHP 70 LEDs on 20mm DTP boards from Simon a little while back. Ones was a 70.3 HI (5000K) that one is easy, and I have already used it to replace a bad 70.2 LED in a Cyansky P25 V1. It works just fine in the light and I prefer it to the original 6500k 70.2 it came with.
Two were different. One is a 70.2 6500K and one is a 70.2 5000K. They were not marked. As I said the 70.3 was easy to ID, no dome. But how can I identify the CCT of the other two… without powering them up that is?
Thinking about replacing a 70.3 6500K in a Cyansky P25 V2 with the 5K 70.2 . Would rather the less blue CCT. I may lose some output, but not a big deal. The problem goes back to the fact that Convoy does not mark the LEDs. So I have the two sitting here in nice little containers with no idea which is which.
Any ideas on how to figure out which one is the 5K?
Can you share a photo of them next to each other in clean whitish lighting? The difference is more subtle between those two temps but the lower temp you go, the more phosphors are added over the die and they get richer and deeper yellow before orangey. The darker of your two will be your lower temp. There are no indicators on the emitters themselves.
He may have missed it but if I’ve ordered different emitters he’s always marked the little snap jar as to what was which.
It’s funny how these just look so overly lemon yellow compared to other emitters. Like if you start comparing SST20 or 519A, they just look different despite being the same temp. I suppose that’s just the magic of the secret phosphor types/mixes.
