ideas/help for DIY anti-roll "mod" for Olight M3XS-UT

I need to add anti-roll feature to my Olight M3XS-UT Javelot flashlight. Forgive my newbie-ness, as really this isn’t a true mod (like changing the LED or circuit board). It has already rolled twice off countertop onto tile floor (no damage both times).

I tried adding the pocket clip from Olight M23 Javelot to the M3XS-UT but this do not stop the rolling. For my old Maglite 3D cell, there is OEM part (hard polymer add-on ) that slips onto head and it becomes anti-roll. That has worked well.
OEM slip on anti-roll right for Maglite 3-D cell lights. I cannot find similar offering for 63mm diameter head flashlight. And that Maglite OEM does not fit the Olight M3XS-UT head.

The only thing I can think of is: add grip tap on asymmetrically to the tail cap but this would be a hack job and look like one too:(

I did search BLF but did not find prior suggestion(s) . My apologies if there is already thread on BLF addressing adding anti-roll to flashlights/torches such as the M3XS-UT and the Fenix TK47. Please provide if there is one.

I looked up a picture of your Olight as I wasn’t familiar with it. It shows a grip ring of some sort right below the tail cap. That ring doesn’t make contact with a hard surface when laying it on it’s side? Hard to tell from the picture if the angle is too great for it to make contact with a table or whatnot. Maybe something like this from Surefire could help out.

toddcshoe, to answer your question:
No, the grip ring does not contact plane of surface when the flashlight is lying on its side.

Thank you for the Surefire combat rings link. With my calipers, measurement of body tube (where knurling is at ) is 25.04mm. So the Surefire combat ring with single protrusion and othter one with plastic ring finger hole both look like they will stop a roll. (And since reported inner width of combat ring is one inch should work though may need to add grip tape to portion of flashlight tube it will attach to). If I do not get other replies for anti-roll mods ideas, I may end up buying those combat rings.

The reason I mentioned in OP Fenix TK47 is because reviews of it also mention negative is no anti-roll feature. . It appears to me no anti-roll is at least common with such shaped flashlight: what I would call toilet-plunger shaped.

Thank you Tom Tom. The link you gave for silicone ring appears to be much cheaper (but same idea) as toddcshoe’s suggestion of the Surefire add on in earlier thread post.

For those who are interested, my measurement with digital calipers of diameters are (three measurement average)
tube where knurling is at: 25.0mm
screw on tailcap: 29.6mm
aluminum factory grip ring 35.0mm (important to know as it rolls now with this so any addition needs to be larger diameter and not perfectly round to prevent roll).
mildly stretched diameter of factory holster for Olight M3XS-UT is 38.5mm

Since my OP, so far my own best hack job idea (not as ugly as original idea grip tape) for anti-roll addition is this:
Though the anodized aluminum grip ring there is a hole. Thread through this hole store bought polymer cable tie. The ones I have are 7.1 inches (181mm) length and cost about $5 for 50 ties. With this cable tie on the M3XS-UT can still fit into the factory holster. Please see photograph.

Since my OP, I have continued to find ways to make the M3XS-UT have anti-roll. As stated in OP, I realize these are not true mods like other ones in this forum topic. But I did not know which forum was best.

Besides the above posts suggestions (all of which have advantage each can be on all the time), I had and inadvertent discovery. After receiving order of Olight OEM 63mm diameter filters (white and green) , I see both have a lanyard tab with hole that will also serve as an anti-roll device. Of course the filters cannot be on the flashlight all the time as each gives significant loss of throw distance. But still good to know for those (like me) who were unaware.

So for now my anti-roll devices are:

7.1inch (181mm) polymer cable tie through the grip ring hole (b.c. most cheap)
Olight OEM 63mm filter: but cannot have on all time as defeats primary design purpose of light

The Surefire rings look the most “professional” and are priced accordingly. Aargh. And search continues in local stores for appropriate sized low priced silicone rings.
