If you only could keep one flashlight, what would it be and why?
For me it would be the Convoy S21D with Nichia 519A, 3000K. It brings the summer evening light to even the coldest Swedish winter

Same for me, but 219b sw45k instead. Not everyone loves the rosiness, but for me it’s perfect. I’ve been in this flashlight hobby for 4+ years now, and this s21d is as close to perfect for me as it gets. I haven’t even bought a new light since getting it, over 3 months now without new purchase.

Only one flashlight?
Something like a Sofirn SP10 Pro (with the swapped-in 519A emitter) because I could use a Li-ion cell or a NiMH or a AA alkaline.

Convoy M21C with XHP70.3 HI emitter.
The flashlight is quite large (for me), but it provides lots of flood AND throw.

I was thinking of buying this light but wondered if the XHP-70 chip would have enough throw.
Have you compared the throw to an XM-L2 or HP-L chip?

I only compared the XHP70.3 HI to the SFT40.
The SFT40 throws further, but the XHP70.3 HI throws far enough for me, and the XHP70.3 HI provides “a wall of light” a.k.a. plenty of flood.

I am undecided if i should get this, i have the Convoy M3-C and its a huge flooder.
And i have a S21A for flood but want all purpose light with average throw, more than the S21A.

My choice also, even without the 519A (until I acquire the skills to swap emitters).
Except “can’t just have one”, and while I do not EDC this light, I have purchased 15 so far; unexpectedly bricking one while updating Anduril to correct the “Voltage Correction Factor” issue.
Along with extra batteries, I keep pairs of SP10 Pros in my vehicles and bug out bags; with others scattered throughout the house.
I removed the clips on some to store the diffuser by slipping it over the tail cap end.
When necessary, they also function with shorter 10440/AAA batteries padded to extend their length with a small piece of crumpled up aluminum foil placed inside the tail cap end.

The only “ correct answer “ to a one light scenario . Has to be a headlamp , has to have throw since you can always knock down throw by adding a diffuser.
Needs to be high cri , needs to easily come out of the holder to be handheld as well . Needs a magnet on one end .
It sounds like a slightly modified Sofirn / Boruit D25LR without the red . Half flood half throw .

I don’t understand the question. Do you mean like one on my forehead and one in each hand and one in each cup holder and door pocket in the vehicle and one in each room in the house? I carry two on my person everyday because one is not enough. If you do not EDC more than a little keychain light everyday then I can understand where this question is coming from. I consider flashlights more of a tool than a hobby. So would you ask the same question about a tool? One tool? Hammer, pliers, screwdriver, saw, pry bar, flashlight, knife, other. Pick one. Not one from each category, but just one tool. This question does come up from time to time. A few years ago the the question was, “If you had to enter a cave with only one flashlight, which one do you take”.? No qualifiers as to how deep into the cave you were going or what you had to do in there or how long you were going to be in there. The cave angle involves danger, reliability, usability and other unknown factors. My answer then and now would be the Armytek wizard pro headlight. Why? Drop rating, waterproof rating, a big sturdy usable clip, wide beam, flashing switch indicator to find in the dark if you drop it. You can use it in the headband or in your hand or clipped to clothing in many different ways. Heck even if you didn’t have clothing on I bet you could find a way to clip it on. No, not down there below your non-existent belt. The best part of the cave question is that I eventually get to come back out and use all my other flashlights.
