Imalent DX80 or acebeam X80?

which is better? I have some extra cash and I would like a high lm light. have never owned either brand. any advice?

I’ve never owned Imalent, but I do have an Acebeam, which is top notch quality.

Acebeam is a much better brand overall, but the X80 is sort of impractical to use, as it gets scorching hot within 30 seconds and the UI is poor (cycle through coloured modes to get from high to low…).

Let’s describe it like this:

- I use my flashlights every day

- I own 3x DX80 - 1x for me, 1x for backup and 1x is always stolen by a member of my family

  • I owned 2x X80, but I sold both of them because I never used them

I think this is the best way to describe it…

The X80 will be interesting when the version with 6x UV will be out for resale…

I saw a great Youtube video on the X80, and I liked it because it is a massive flooder, reaching 180 degree spill - that’s crazy. But yea, the light is fairly impractical.

You could wait for the Acebeam X70 or the Astrolux MF03.

I chose the DX80 over the X80 for some reasons.

  1. Size. A big lumen light must be actually big for heat dissipation, I can stand 32000 lumens for 3-4 min before it steps down. The X80 won’t hold 1 min at 25000 lm.

2.Bigger battery. The DX80 uses 8x 18650s vs 4 in the X80.

3. Included batteries.

4. The DX80 actually has somewhat of a hotspot, while the X80 looks like a pure flood light like those you buy on ebay for 20$ with a single 50w square led in the middle.

5. UI is much better in the DX80. You can jump from off directly to 32000 lumens. While the X80 you have to go through a lower mode or even some colored leds.

6. Built in OLED screen that tells you the current output and battery voltage.

7. Comes with a wall charger.

Got my X80 a few days ago. Must have a different UI as I don't need to go through any colored modes to get to Turbo or turbo max but do need to double click twice for turbo max. I like it way better than the DX80 because it's an Acebeam, is compact, no battery pack, colored and uv leds for fun, side vent, completely even flood that doesn't wash out everything in front of you on max like a dx80 does, superior white beam over the horrific green tint of the dx80 and last but not least, the dx80 reminds me of a boat I got once in that it was one of the best days when I bought it and an even better day when I sold it

Both really too different kind/form factors of lights. Each have there own pros and cons, if you want to simplify things if you want lumens go with the DX80 as it can hold higher output for quite a bit more time than Acebeam X80. If you are wanting something smaller you can put easily in a backpack go with the X80. Both are built quite well, both UIs are near the same. I will say be sure and read on the X80 if you are wanting lumens, i have the X80-GT and it is scorcher it is super bright for about 30seconds and than the lumens start falling quickly. My Thrunite TN36 Limited can sustain more lumen output than X80-GT.

X80 is a flood light plain and simple no throw while the DX80 has a mix of both.

Very well put Fate0n3… I own an X80 and just ordered the DX80, great deal on BG at this time. I didn’t get the X80GT for the exact reason you described, though at least it has active cooling (or is it just a heat vent?) which the other two do not… the X80 is very manageable as it is, and I heart the colored LEDs and UV.

Klrman the UI on the X80 was updated early on…you’re right the colors are on a separate UI flow. I think it was a great update by Acebeam too.

what do u want, a pure flood light or more of a search light ? i wouldnt get the imalent reading all the negative stuff here how easy they break down seems waste of money… but acebeam is a top notch brand in flashlights.

Mortuus wasn’t that all first run issues? Everything I read tied the switch issues to early versions. Is there anything more recent? TIA

The DX80 looks very impressive still, especially in the new videos comparing it against the Acebeam X70. It looks like it can really hold its own.

For those who have the DX80, have you had any problems with them (dead / half lit led’s, screen illumination, etc.)?
If you had to send it into Imalent for repair, how was the process?
Also when and where did you purchase your DX80 from?

Thank You!

I would go with the acebeam for the better warranty… imalent quality control and warranty is so bad.

I sent my imalent ms12 head ( broken fan )… they don’t even fix it… bad imalent.

What did Imalent tell you? Do they really reject to repair/exchange it? I mean, it’s a brand new flashlight you have bought! Oh dear...I thought Rofis is a bad example in terms of catchpenny promises but this is even worse.

By the way, if anyone is interested into some comparison beamshots between Imalent’s MS12, DX80, DT70 and Acebeam’s X80 that I took tonight, please follow this link (sorry, German language only):

FWIW, the DX80 is the best compromise in terms of size, weight and cost. The MS12 is only slightly better but has far more weight and size.

I emailed imalent about the ms12 broken fan. They said send it back and repair… I received it today with the same broken fan… imalent can’t get it right. I don’t know what to say anymore…

Now I have a ms12 with the bells.

My first and last imalent… I will not buy an imalent products again.

I have owned a DX-80 but sold it for financial reasons. My product was in perfect working condition. I recently bought a R90C which also works perfectly.
i just think Imalent did not think thoroughly enough about implementing a internal fan and rushed to beat the Acebeam X70.
I will be honest, I also agree that Acebeams quality is far superior to Imalents. I own an Acebeam X70 and i have not even thought of purchasing the MS12 since it arrived. thats how great it is.
